“Beautiful Old World Hotel!”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

We enjoyed our 3 nights at this hotel. It has the charm of an old hotel with modern conveniences. We stayed in room 307 which also had a separate den - very spacious. The room was clean and comfortable. The windows cut out the street noise from the buses that stopped across the street.

The hotel is located at a metro stop which brings you directly into the heart of the old town. However, you can also walk to the old town in about 15-20 minutes.

Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. WiFi only in lobby, but is is free.

Parking is in the Parkhaus Generali across the street. The hotel gives you a special rate. Park in the Parkhaus and ask the people at the desk about the special rate. If you email the hotel in advance, they will send you directions for parking.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Kummer while visiting Vienna.

Room Tip: Rooms on Mariahilferstrasse side may be quieter as the street is a pedestrian mall.

If you are considering to go to Wien by car, FORGET THIS HOTEL. There is no way to get close to the main entrance by car as the stream in front allows only Buses to circulate. Also, despite they have cooperation with a parking lot near the hotel, you will discover this after you could get into the lobby and probably leaving your car in a prohibit place.

The Internet access is terrible. O has only at the lobby, precisely near the bar. You have to get pieces of papers which gives you login and password for 30 minutes. To keep logged after this time you have to get another piece of paper. Horrible Internet facility.

The room is noisy as walk. The floor is wood and each step you hear the wood cracking.

Dear Mr. Gustavo,

thank you very much for taking the time to post a comment on our Hotel.

I am very sorry, that the hotel did not meet your full expectations on this occasion.

Hotel Kummer is now (since September 2013) located in the middle of a pedestrian zone - at the beginning it was quite confusing for cars to reach the hotel. But now everything is settled - our reception team is more than happy to assist with directions or recommendations. A public garage is right on the other side of the Hotel.

Internet Connection is now free for all our clients. Wi-fi in all public areas - cable-connection in all guest rooms - vouchers for 24hours are available at the front desk.

Once again I would like to thank you for your time, and assure you, that your comments had been taken very seriously.
I would be very happy to welcoming you back to Vienna some time in the near future.

Kind regards
Andreas Ohrfandl

Good staff, attentive to needs. Nice location on shopping district right up from Museum Quarter. U-Bahn stop right across street and great access from there to all Vienna.
Beds, fine! Private bath, worked well. Windows cut out street noise, slept well. Appointments in room and property were nice and felt like quality.
Breakfast was good continental fair, served from 6:30 am until 10:00 am. It was worth buying the breakfast for the cost of the room.
Well done!

I stayed there 8.10.2013 for two nights, hotel looking very nice from outside or inside "classic" but if you like modern hotels maybe You should book somewhere else.
We had room 310 and enough space in room even big bathroom.
Location is great for shops, restaurants as You are on famous street for shopping.
WiFi only in lobby but most hotels are same.
Breakfast is nice, plenty choice. Staff very friendly and ready to help of course.
I will stay there again :o)

My husband and I stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed it. The room was very large, as was the bathroom. There was a full size tub, and my husband and I each enjoyed a soak in it. It's on top of a metro station, which is fantastic, and only a short walk to the museum quarter. Breakfast each morning was wonderful, though it seemed to get a bit hectic around 10 am (service ends at 10:30). Staff was always very helpful. We'd definitely stay here again and recommend others stay here as well. Note the double room was two twin beds pushed together, which we haven't found uncommon in our travels, and we found the beds exceptionally comfortable.

Room Tip: Our room on the 5th floor had a great view of the aquarium, an old flakturm.

Stayed 2 nights here in September. Asked for a twin and got a double room. Probably because there was no room to swing a cat in it.
I'll list below the good and bad
Good
Staff are friendly although not totally competent.
Breakfast was good -gluten free bread provided
Shower had good pressure and hot water

Bad
Tiny rooms
Rooms needing upgraded
No WiFi except in lobby
6 tables outside for smoking
No tea or coffee facilities in room
Air on is fixed at 22 degrees
Noisy if room is front facing

No way is this a 4 star hotel... 3 yes
The walk in rate is 250 euros for a double.
We paid 108 euros via booking.com and still I did not get value for money
I am usually good with reviews but would not give kummer my businesses again.
Not recommended

Room Tip: Back of hotel is less noisy
