We stayed in Mercury Wien one night. Location of this hotel is very good right across the bridge from city centre, shops, restaurants, bars. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean. Breakfast with a good choice.

There are at least 3 Mercure hotels in Vienna and though this one is not as near to the centre as the Zentrum one we chose it because we thought it would be quieter. We were in two recently modernised rooms on the 7 (top) floor - rooms were not very big but well decorated, with a little fridge, and had nice modern bathrooms and generally made good use of the space. The wifi worked perfectly all the time. We found the rooms incredibly hot and had the windows open all the time even though it was December. But we found this was an ever constant issue in Vienna: very cold outside and very warm in restaurants, cafés museums etc.
The front desk staff were extremely helpful. They sorted out an adaptor socket for us as we had brought the wrong ones, gave directions, made recommendations and were generally very cheerful and friendly, especially Anna (?).
To get around we walked 100metres to the tram stop on the other side of the bridge to get the No. 1 tram which goes round the Ringstrasse, or walked to Schwedenplatz U-Bahn station or just walked into town.
Vienna is not a big city so we walked quite a lot of the time.
There is a little cafe on the corner which does quite a decent breakfast - ham and eggs or fresh croissants - if you don't want the hotel one, though the hotel one was absolutely fine. There is no evening food at the hotel but not a problem. We walked over to the very good Salzamt restaurant near St Ruprecht's church in less than ten minutes for example.
We used the CAT train from the airport into town, which though more expensive than the U-Bahn, or the airport bus which stops at Schwedenplatz, was just really quick and easy. The Ringtram is a good way of getting a sense of where things are.
The best museums for us were the art exhibitions at the Albertina, the Haus of Music, and the Belvedere with its awesome Klimts. The Leopold was good but not great. The Schatzkammer was excellent.

Dear guest,

thank you so much for your wonderful review. I will forward your comments to Anna and the rest of the team as we appreciate your positive feedback. We are happy to hear that could benefit from the central location and had a great time in Vienna. As for the overheated rooms, I guess in Austria we don´t like winter that much so we try to keep it as warm as possible.

We hope to see you again soon and wish you a happy new year!

Best regards,

This Hotel is clean and well run by warm and friendly staff. Our room had a nice big comfortable double bed and had everything you need TV, internet, hairdryer, iron etc. The only problem we had was with the safe which wasn't working but a call to reception had this rectified in 10 minutes. We didn't try the breakfast but believe it's continental. We were in Vienna for the start of the Christmas markets and it's in an excellent spot for exploring them in this lovely City. Schwedenplatz bus/tram stop is just across the bridge and you get transport from there to take you around the city and to and from the airport (20mins). We're happy to recommend this hotel to our friends and family!

Looking quite unremarkable from the outside you notice the Mercure own functional elegance right from the moment you walk through the door.
Friendly staff at the Reception guides you through the registration process. The rooms are a bit on the small side but comfortable nonetheless. The bathroom is a bit very small but yet provides everything you need.
The design is functional and elegant just like you would expect from a hotel room of a big international Hotel chain.
The breakfast comes in buffet style and serves a quite large variety. There's plenty of cold and hot foods to choose from, catering every taste and gusto!
Location is great, just 5min walk to Schwedenplatz with loads of charming Cafes, Restaurants and Bars. Add another 5min walk and you are standing right in the middle of the shopping streets and in front of St.Stephans Cathedral. Another 5mins and you are at Hotel Sacher and the State Opera House.

I honestly can't complain about anything, the staff was efficient and corteous, rooms were well sized, location was perfect just a bit away from the center. One of the best Mercures I have stayed in as a frequent traveller. When travelling on business, the sleep quality is the most important thing to wish for, and it was well presented, the windows are well sealed, and it is not in a very busy area. Will surely recommend for colleagues.

Room Tip: No need for tips, all the rooms are great for business purposes
