“Weekend in Vienna”
Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

This was a lovely hotel. Great room, with a good breakfast which passed the orange juice test ( orange juice labelled fresh that actually tasted fresh). Very helpful staff, and very well located. If you are on the first floor, make sure you walk up the stairs. Only downside, free Internet that was the speed of a tortoise. Rather than pay the charges, make sure you eat at some of the nearby restaurants that have free and fast Internet.

Spent 2 nights in June 2013. Room is spacious with high ceiling. Staff is friendly and helpful. Hotel is spotless and in great location. If I am to go back to Vienna, I will definitely consider staying at this hotel.

A very nice hotel and it’s a bit like a small palace with its grand decor and crystal chandeliers. We probably had the biggest room I have ever had in a hotel, at least twice normal size. We had a king size bed with two separate mattresses. There was a sofa and two arm chairs and a flat screen TV at the end of the bed that swivelled to the lounging area. An ample bathroom with double sinks, bath, shower and a separate door to the toilet. It had a walk in wardrobe with a trouser press and free safe. The decor was old stile but we like that with its impressive crystal chandelier in the middle of the room. There was free tea and coffee facilities and a mini bar fridge. The buffet breakfast was a very high standard even free champagne available if that your thing in the morning. We had free wifi which was a bit slow occasionally and we had to get a new number every day to enter in our Ipad which was a bit of a nuisance. The hotel is in a good location, handy for underground, trams and busses and walking to the centre of town. There was no pool or spa but we knew that already. There was a gym but we didn’t want to wear ourselves out. We would have liked a sun terrace on the roof but there was a nice park to relax in across the road from the hotel with free deckchairs. The staff was friendly and helpful and everywhere you went in Vienna someone spoke English. I would recommend the Vienna Card which gives you 4 days travel on local transport and discounts for palaces, museums, shops, restaurants etc and cost only 19.90 Euros each from reception.

Room Tip: We had an internal room overlooking a sky light area so no view but it was very quiet. The windows...

Stayed there for our honeymoon while in Vienna. The location is phenomenal, right on the central ring with easy access to subway and tram. Walking distance to the center, city hall, and pretty much everything else.

The rooms were very nice and the hotel staff was very helpful. They made good suggestions and helped with any questions I had. My only complaint was the terrible internet connection they have set up. It was very slow, which I think shouldn't happen at a modern hotel.

Was in Wein for IPA 2013 conference. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, always happy to care and offer advice including good running routes. The twin room 103, was amazing, very roomy, cool, and a great street view. The gym was great, quite hot so had to leave the door open but had all the basics. Breakfast was a great start to the day, plenty of good healthy food.

Our family, 2 adults and 3 kids (16,14,10) and my father in law stayed at this hotel for a couple nights. We had 3 double rooms on floor 4 and 6 all of good size. The rooms faced towards the ring, but we didn‘t experience any noice from the traffic. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast offered all we could ask for, from healthy options to pancakes with nutella or even champagne! We had a car which we had to pay extra for, but quick service when we needed it. The only complaint we have was when we wanted to take a night cap at quarter past ten on the terrace. It was a fantastic night and we wanted to sit outside. We ordered and nothing happened for 15 minutes. Then the manager showed and explained to us that we could‘t be served outside since they had to close that part at half past ten. They could have told us earlier...

Worth mentioning is also the situation of the hotel. There are lots of trams and underground lines next to the hotel and the Stephans dome and the shopping area is a 10 minute walk away from the hotel.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your feedback.
We are already looking for a better and faster solution for the W-Lan as we are well aware that demands have changed radically related to the internet.

Location of Hotel de France is the best-near the center (1st region).
The rooms are big. The bathroom with bathtub is also big.
The restaurant is not very good- even Vienner schnitzel was very dried.
The price is not high, it's valued.
I can recommend this hotel to stay in Vienna.
