“Would recommend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

Stayed 5 nights. Hotel is steps from Ubahn. Good location right on the Ring. Easy access to most attractions. Numerous places to eat nearby. The room we had was clean and large (even by North American standards). Our room faced an office building next door, so not much street noise, just the occasional siren. Breakfast room was clean and bright, also facing the Ring. Breakfast selection and quality of food were excellent. Service was prompt. Would recommend and/or stay there again.

Very close to downtown and subway and bus stop, is an attractive 'old style' hotel, the room I had was big enough and clean enough with a small TV with a few channels, mini bar very poor, they claim to have a fitness area actually is a room with two treadmills, two stationary bikes and some weight. The restaurant closes at 10:30 and the bar / room service at 1:00 am and the staff is quite slow. Breakfast good but nothing special, notice is a complete non smoking hotel.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comment.

You are correct that our fitness room is not quite large, therefore and for extensive workout we recommend the nearby Homes Place. Our F&B Manager will also focus on the ‘staff is quite slow’ issue within the next training session.

We hope to welcome you again.

Best regards,
Michael Pohn, General Manager

We stayed for 3 days at the Hotel de France in Vienna. The location was fantastic! A short walk to the Town Hall (which was great as the Outdoor Film Festival was on), the Ring Road and steps to the subway.
Staff was very nice. Breakfast was fantastic with a great variety.
The free WIFI was great, the only downside was that every day you needed to get the new code.
Hotel is pet friendly.

Dear Guest,

It was a pleasure to read your comment – thank you so much for the high rating.

Especially your statement ‘hotel is pet friendly’ is highly appreciated - since more often this is not mentioned in any reviews.

good location on the main "ring". Nice bar and public spaces, but no real feel of friendliness or genunine welcome. Not much ambience. Bedroom very small - not enough floor space to put down a yoga mat! I would rate the inclusive breakfast though - a very extensive buffet with hot and cold choices to meet all global tastes. Wifi/intranet free but you have to get a log in and password every 24 hours which is a real nuisance.

Dear Guest!

Thank you for your feedback!

We hope to welcome you again in one of our spacious Deluxe rooms or Maisonettes (designed on two floors) the next time which will provide plenty of space for your yoga mat. For even more extensive workout sessions we may suggest to visit our fitness room on the 6th floor.
We are delighted to read that the extensive hot and cold buffet breakfast was at your liking
and will definitely have a look into the WiFi situation.

Best regards

If you are in Vienna, stay at this hotel. It's only metres to the trains, trams run past the hotel and it's close to shopping and attractions. It's very quiet considering it's on the Ring Road. Breakfast is fantastic and the ambience throughout the whole hotel is lovely. I stayed there in Oct 2009 and I couldn't fault Hotel De France at all. If and when I go back to Vienna, I'll be staying here.

Spent a couple of days here in a steaming hot Vienna. Unfortunately the hotel AC wasn´t up to the challenge and the heat in both rooms and dining-areas was at times unbearable. Lobby and conference areas where average, as was service. Room was spacious and clean - but HOT. Meals where less than average but hideously overpriced.

Good location, elegant lobby. Decent breakfast and free wifi - I even got two codes; one for my phone and one for my laptop. And the restaurant wasn't bad either as I'm not usually a big fan of hotel dining.

Room was like a mini suite with a separate large bathroom, a separate WC, tiny lobby and small bedroom. The bedroom was a bit pokey for the price - the tv was on a bracket high up on the wall to give you enough space to move around the bed. That and the frosted glass on to the central light well made the room feel a bit sad.
