Ultimate Tradition

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed May 7, 2019
The Sacher is wonderful, and wonderfully expensive, old Viennese institution. Rooms are luxurious albeit sometimes interesting. (I stayed in the Scherezade Suite and the only way into the bed was to crawl from the end.) Bars and restaurants are intimate. Concierge and doormen first-rate. Very helpful.
Date of stay: April 2019
Room Tip: Ask about the layout of the room, and the location. Hotel is across several blogs.

Old world classic hotel full of memorabilia and steeped with history. Once you get beyond the commercial hyperbole of the Sacher Torte you discover a very well located but old fashioned personal hotel. Suites were comfortably appointed and very warm and cost on a wet and windy day. Staff were eager to please wherever standards and expectations were not met. In room technology and engineering were not really contemporary but they still do try to get things done the old fashioned way. I brought my parents here to experience olde world and so they did with a very warm and personable Hotel Managing Director who made the time to walk them through the culture and history of Vienna. Food better had at the restaurants than in room service was limited in choice but reasonably good.
At the end of the day it’s the property, its legacy, it’s location and it’s staff that make this hotel a fine and venerable institution.

Gracious, chic, genteel, tasteful. All the superlatives for this amazing hotel. Normally prefer modern furnishings for hotels, but the Sacher was so warmly decorated and didn't feel intimidating despite its elevated stature. The rooms was beautiful and spacious. The bathroom had all the luxe touches, including heated floors. Location can not be beat. My only gripe was the overpriced Easter Brunch for EUR90. Nothing more than a regular brunch. The Marble Room was festive and beautiful but they did not do anything special with the food for that day. I can't give them less than five stars though, for the hotel.

Been there 6 times or more unfortunately some expensive jewellery hve been stolen (forgot ring and nevklace on bathroom) i went to the gum when back it wasnt there.

Dear reviewer "zineba534"

first of all, we would like to thank you for your comment about your stay last September and are delighted to hear that you like the location of our hotel as well as our Original Sacher-Torte.

We are, however, shocked to learn that jewelery was missing from your room through Tripadvisor. As you mention that your stay dates back to 7 months ago, we checked our records and found no trace of missing jewelery reported by any of our guests. We would like to investigate this matter further and kindly ask you to get in touch with us, give us your name and the exact dates of your stay. Please contact me directly at rheilmann@sacher.com

We would also like to inform you that the Starbucks that used to be across the street closed its doors 3 years ago.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards,

Reiner Heilmann

We stayed for two nights at the end of our long trip and it was perfect. The room was readied with handwritten welcome note, snacks, and water. The room was new and nicely decorated. The bathrooms was especially nice with heated floors!

The staffs were very helpful. Great breakfast and great decoration at every inch of the hotel. A lovely place to stay if you happened to be in Vienna. Will definitely revisit.

Stayed at this hotel in 2 suites for 5 days. Firstly only given 2 small bottles of water a day. When we asked for more to be sent up , we never received them.
Food when having room service arrived cold. Asked for a few things on our stay , communication is so bad. And we got charged 5 euros a day to use their stroller. For a hotel with 5 stars one really is offered the minimal service. It looks nice from the outside and people are polite. Just the service they provide is a bit crap.

Dear reviewer "Mr. jmjmjmjm_77",

thank you for your feedback which we much appreciate as we can only learn and improve our service if we receive honest feedback from our guests. Service excellence is one of our core values and exceeding our guests' expectations is what our employees strive to do each day.

We are very happy to hear that you found our employees to be polite, however, we are extremely sorry to hear that you were disappointed by the service you received.

Based on your feedback, we will follow-up with your employees in our In-Room Dining department to find out why you did not receive your water and why the food was not served hot. It is true that we rented a stroller for you which came at a charge. We will look into buying a stroller and having it available at no charge for our guests.

We would be delighted to welcome you back in order to convince you of our high level of service. Please contact me directly so that I can make sure we anticipate your every need during your next stay. You can reach me at: rheilmann@sacher.com

Kind regards,
