I stayed in a 6 bed, female dorm room for 5 nights over the Easter bank holiday weekend, 2013.
The hostel is, as other reviewers have said, is clean and very modern. It is a bit soulless at the moment as it is a new hostel, but the staff are starting to make it their own, with a book exchange, travel information and the general kookiness you find at hostels.
The room was very large for 6 beds (I've been in other hostels that would have put 8/10 beds in the same space), the lockers, once you got the hang of how to lock them (push your key against the black rubber button), were large and had good hanging space. The hostel provide duvets, pillows and all linen and they ask that you don't use your own sleeping bag. The room was very hot at night (partly due to the brazilian girls in my room keep turning up the heat) so some of the girls ditched the duvet and just used the duvet cover to sleep in. The forth floor is a girls only floor and has key access into each wing, and each room. The hostel felt very safe and as a well travelled female alone I had no problems. The bathrooms are fine, though easy to flood! and our bathroom had a hairdryer wired in for free, which is great as it keeps the noise down when others are trying to sleep.
The facilities are good; a small functional kitchen, with the location of the market opposite the hostel, is well used and has the same issues as every other hostel, dirty dishes, not enough kit and moldy food! but they do keep on top of this during the day and the fridge is cleared every Friday. There are washers and dryers (don't overfill the dryer!) witch accepts 50cent pieces and cost 4euro, the luggage room is large and right next to reception and can be used by anyone checking in or out, there are also additional showers in the basement which can be used once you've checked out. The informational wall still needs some work as it was lacking a bit of info, found my lonely planet more useful (guidebooks are available from reception).
The Location was perfect for those who wanted to check out the city rather than just passing through (if your passing through stay at one of the other hostels!). Vienna is a very walk able city and most of the main sites are no more than a 15 minute walk from the hostel. I would recommend going on the FREE city walk from the hostel to get your bearings and learn more about the city. The market is busy and full of locals and tourists alike, I also ate at two restaurants in the market, both were fantastic, be aware though that smoking is allowed indoors in restaurants so think carefully about where you sit! The flea market on the Saturday was great fun and full of unusual bits and pieces, I bought some nice bits for my flat.
Finally no review on this hostel can be complete without a mention of the bar, I can understand how many people can find it "full of drunk kids" as it can be at the weekend, but on both the Thursday and Monday nights I was there it was a very different atmosphere than over the weekend. The music is loud, but the staff are happy to take recommendations! the wine is fine, typically local and very cheap for Vienna (1.50 for a white wine spritzer). I didn't drink the beer, but the other travelers I met seemed to like it. everyone was very friendly and I would recommend striking up conversation with anyone sitting alone! If you don't want to sit in the loud music you can take drinks upstairs to the dining room, where some families were sitting playing games and eating dinner. The weekends its a good first stop to meet other people before hitting the town, the underground system works 24 hours over the weekend, but not during the week.
All in all I would defiantly stay at this hostel again.
