Our family enjoyed a special occasion dinner at the restaurant on a weekend evening. Our reserved table was on the patio; the beautiful weather added to the pleasant setting.
My husband and I shared the special, roasted sea bass in a crust of sea salt. Everything from the presentation to the perfectly grilled seasonal vegetables and sautéed spinach was delicious. One of our children ordered the "frutti di mar" plate, and it was substantially more than the usual bivalves, shrimp, and occasional octopus. The plate also contained prawns and a langoustine, all in a light broth. Our daughter requested an off-menu dish of simple pasta with garlic and chili; the staff did not blink an eye at the request, and even brought her a "mocktail" to enjoy with her dinner. The wine suggested by the staff, a dry Grüner Veltliner, paired nicely with our meal.
Vienna is an expensive city for dining. That said, if you really desire a quality, well-prepared, and delicious seafood meal, and friendly staff, Aurelius is worth the lighter pocketbook.
