We enjoyed our visit to Porcelain Manufaktur very much. We stayed in a hotel nearby and I read that they have morning tours of the production facilities. So, off we went. It is located in a nice old palace building inside a beautiful park. We had a pleasant stroll around it afterwards. The tour was for about 1 hour, it was mostly in German but the tour guide was also translating some info to English for my mom. We were shown all stages of porcelain making process, how each peace of complex sets is made, the colouring, etc. It was very interesting! First time on such tour for me. After completing it, the prices for different porcelain pieces in the entrance hall, did not look so high any longer - you really see how much work and art goes into each creation. The museum was interesting. We liked the old part better than the new one. We also bought some porcelain pieces to take home - to remember this beautiful place during our breakfasts :).
There is a very good restaurant attached to the porcelain factory. We had lunch there after the tour and it was really tasty and pleasant.
Augarten Porcelain Factory was not one attraction I planned on visiting in Vienna and suddenly it turned out to be a great and very interesting half-day trip and something I will definitely remember.
