Veal goulash seemed like the perfect late Friday night dinner to start a mid-winter Imperial weekend in Vienna and the Café Imperial delivered. The main dining room of the Imperial Hotel carries over the 19th century ambiance of the lobby while still being welcoming to travelers just in from the airport. We paired our goulash with a crème of pumpkin soup and a couple of glasses of some Austrian wines. Service was professional without hovering. The only slip up was that my companion had requested that our server hold out a chocolate raspberry mousse, that she had spotted as we walked past the pastry counter, for her. She eagerly anticipated it throughout our meal, but in the end it was gone. Boo Hoo.

We enjoyed all meals here. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We had most amazing Wiener Schnitzel and the best I have ever tried - veal goulash.
Of course you must try some cakes - beautifully decorated and very tasty too.

Came here after seeing Rick Stein feature the cafe on his 'Long Weekend' episode of Vienna and particularly, the Wiener Schnitzel, which was reputed to be the best in all of Austria. Let me start with raving on about how great the service is and how friendly the staff are; absolutely 5 star. When the meal arrived it was seriously a huge schnitzel, beautifully golden and tender and the potatoes! wow! So delicious! The complimentary bread is warm and fresh and the salad was similar to a Bavarian salad and equally yummy. I can thoroughly recommend this meal and the cafe, the staff, the food, and the ambience is just divine. Would definitely return.

Great place when you can start your day. Every detail is perfect. If you have any wish the staff will fulfill it. Don't forget the Imperial Torte
