Non-descript street in a non-descript part of Vienna... even a non-descript corner hause. We were referred to this place by a hotel receptionist, among other options. It was cold outside, but when we got there an took a glance through the windows, we decided that we wanted to try Gasthaus Woracziczky. It looked full, friendly-bustling, warm, homey...and a place that was welcoming you for a meal. Oh and it was !!! As we came with no reservation, we were asked to wait at the bar for 10 minutes, where we had a glass of suggestion white wine. Good start. Later on, the food was excellent, with beautiful and exquisitely balanced starters and some perfect Austrian mains. Excellent wines accompanied the food. And the service was extremely friendly (in 3 languages: German, French and English), non-evasive, customer-centred... and with a warm smile.
The menu now comes with an English translaton (prices are only marked on the German version though).
We ate extremely well in this warm, welcoming and busy, but absolutely non-pretentious place... and make this a five star recommendation.
