“Good Location”
Reviewed June 26, 2008

This is a nice, rather modest family-run hotel close to the State Opera (in the old town). The pension is on the first floor but there is a lift. Our room was small but comfortable and quiet. The staff were always friendly and helpful and it was good to be able to walk to the end of the little street and find oneself in the centre of activity.

Well worth considering.

Stayed here for 5 days to watch Euro 2008. Whilst the hotel may not be flash and the rooms quite small, it was perfect for what we needed.
The hotel is located right in the heart of the city, about 50 metres from the Opera House and the main shopping streets which also leads to the Cathedral. Everywhere is within walking distance and the underground if needed is very close. It is also good to note that the underground is on several lines and provides a direct route to the Schonbrunn Palace.
The hotel provides a free computer with Internet to use in the reception, with breakfast included everyday offering a wide variety of meat, fresh bread and cheese. The rooms also all have cable TV including British, German and French channels.
If you're after a cheapish hotel, with location the most important factor then this hotel is highly recommended

  • Liked — Location and very nice and welcoming staff
  • Disliked — Size of the rooms, but for location and price it is to be expected.

We stayed at Pension Suzanne twice this month in our tour of Central Europe. It is a very good hotel in an excellent location. The staff is extremely helpful and go out of their way to assist you. William was very helpful in assisting us with changes in the public transportation system during the soccer games, Europe 2008. We also had to leave the hotel early one morning before breakfast was served and the young lady responsible for preparing the breakfast room came in early and fixed us some coffee & rolls.
The two different rooms we had were both sizable with ample furniture and a separate tub/shower from the toilet. No shower curtain made the process interesting but we learned to adapt. The rooms have wi-fi, safes and hair dryers. They are very clean. The breakfast was great with very good quality meats, cheezes, cereal, yogurt, breads and eggs. This kept us satisfied until dinner. The location is excellent to mass transportation, and allows you to walk to most tourist sights.
The only downside with regard to transportation is the Karlsplatz U-Bahn Station (closest to hotel.) For such a wonderful city it is a shame this station is not cleaned-up. We felt very uncomfortable each time we passed through, with the group of folks that seem to use this underground station as a hangout.
I would highly recommend this hotel for those travelers that are budget conscious, wants a great location and not looking for something fancy.

A lovely place to stay, the room was very clean and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and organized concert tickets for me. The location is unbeatable and the breakfast was much better than some of the other hotels I stayed in. Free internet access is a bonus.

After staying with my husband at Pension Suzanne 2 years ago, I couldn't even think about staying somewhere else in Vienna. However, this year my experience was a little bit sourer. The guy at reception was quite cold and abrupt, and not welcoming at all.
My room (single this time) was very small, maybe because 3/4 of it was occupied by a huge Queen size bed, that could easily accommodate 2 people.
The washroom was newly renovated and everything worked fine.
The breakfast was very good as usual: cereals, milk, orange juice, cheese, meats, rolls and boiled eggs.
The best thing of all is the location of this hotel and free internet access. The worst thing is that maids start working at 7:30 in the morning, and they are not quiet at all (they prepare everything for cleaning right outside your door), so want it or not you will be up at 7:30. And I could hear everything my neighbours were doing: sneezing, talking, etc.
The price was OK: 79 Euro/night for single room. I'll think twice now wether to stay at this hotel or to look for something else...

  • Disliked — No sound isolation, and too noisy in the mornings

The pension Suzanne is located in a perfect place - a one minute walk from the Opera House but on a reasonbly quiet street. We were only able to book a single room with a larger bed - we were very cramped but we knew this would be the case. We arrived late at night because our flight was delayed. The manager waited for us (this caused him some inconvenience because there isn't a staffed front office in the evening) but I would recommend calling to confirm if you are running late. The pension is dark and locked down at night.

The room was baroque and comfortable. The hallways, though, reminded me of a college dorm. Breakfasts were a delight and were served in a cheerful room on the first floor.

I would definitely recommend this pension because of its location, breakfasts, and price.

We stayed three wonderful nights at Pension Suzanne in April 2008. The hotel is situated in the most perfect location in Vienna. It is right around the corner from the gorgeous Opera House. It is on the second floor of an old building, which is nothing to look at from the outside, but It is very charming and quaint inside. It has all the modern conveniences, but the wonderful ambience of old Vienna. It was very clean and inviting. The price was great - and the breakfast each morning was delicious!! We were traveling with another couple, and we both liked our rooms. The bathrooms were clean and very spacious. The rooms were off of a nice hallway with lovely furnishings. We were greeted by the nicest people - Maria was especially friendly and helpful in giving us suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. We ate at great places - Gmoa Keller, which was recommended by the hotel, was about a 20 minute walk, and very nice. Loved the Figlmuller which is a weingarten, so serves no beer - just wine! Food was delicious and atmosphere great. Our last night we ate at the Augustinakeller, which was in the Albertinaplatz, not far from the hotel. Every place that we visited was an easy walk from the hotel. Vienna is a beautiful city and it was wonderful being in the center, so we were close to most of the historical sites. We walked to the Hofburg Palace to hear the Vienna Boys' Choir. They sing the mass every Sunday morning at 9:15 at the Imperial Chapel. They have the most angelic voices, and what an experience to be able to walk to hear them. We had a car, but didn't drive in the city. If you arrive on a weekend, like we did, you can park free in front of the hotel. Then on Monday, you put a card authorizing you to park there - and pay 4.60 euro a day to the hotel. The owner was very helpful in taking care of that for us. Vienna was one of our favorite cities on our Central - Eastern European trip, and staying at the very charming Pension Suzanne made it one of the highlights of our holiday. We would definitely stay there again - and hope to return someday!!
