world-class art collection. TONS of Peter-Paul Reubens, a few Caravaggios, and a Raphael. You'll be wildly surprised at the size and caliber of this collection.

An amazing experience once you enter this monumental building with very high ceilings, easy to navigate btn the different rooms, and nice sofas to sit and rest from sensory overload. The colleciton is impressive and huge, labels also in English. Very enjoyable visit.

We would have totally missed it had it not been a cloudy day. It ended up being more than what I expected. It is comparable to the Louvre in some ways, but I wouldn't say that it's in the same category. The Kunsthistorisches has quality collections, but the difference is that it would take a full week (maybe even more than that) to see everything in the Louvre. I just can't compare this museum to the massiveness of the Louvre. With that said, I really enjoyed viewing the art at the Kunsthistorisches Museum and would do it all over again in a heartbeat. They have a fantastic collection of paintings from artists such as Raphael, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and even Rubens. The Picture Gallery was truly a highlight for me. This museum also exposed me to Austrian, Hungarian, and German art that I've never seen before. Some of the collections were actually unique in some ways. I thought the collection of clocks and navigational instruments was very interesting and unique. There's a little something for anyone who loves art history. It ended up being one of the best unplanned visits of our trip!

As pretty much everything is closed on Sunday in Vienna, this museum is ideal for a visit then. You can spend an entire day here looking at art and history. There is the magnificent Kunstkammer Wien, the ancient Egypt collection, the Greek and Roman collection, the coin collection and an entire floor with paintings from Bruegel, Rubens, Vermeer, Titiaan, Raffael, Caravaggio and Velazquez to name a few. This is one of Europe's top museums and not to be missed.

Grand Foyer is an amazing oveview of the incredible collections inside. We opted not to rent the audioguides and found only Egyptian collection not labeled in English. Most paintings were labeled with artist, dates, medium and some factual information. We did not regret not renting the audioguides. We left the building and were able to return the same day with re-entry stamps given by exit attendant. This was our favorite Vienna site.
