Great, but can be better

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 24, 2019via mobile
Visited Hotel Bristol for an overnight / birthday surprise for my partner. Overall a pleasant experience but do have a few suggestions for improvement. First of all, i was extremely disappointed to find out that our suite did not have the view of the staatsoper. The description on the website says “The luxurious rooms have panorama windows revealing a breathtaking view of the Vienna State Opera AND (note it says AND not OR) Vienna’s Ringstrasse boulevard.” This is not true at all. Suite 52 has views of the hotel entrance. Very disappointed! Secondly, i asked for some bottled waters and power adapters to be sent to the room during check-in, which did not happen. This was rectified when i requested it again through the marriott app and the front desk supervisor responded (and apologized) - not a big deal but i feel that a hotel of this caliber should have better customer service. Finally, look at the dirty water in my bathtub. That was absolutely unacceptable. The water must not have been turned on for ages! I will end on a good note and say that the hotel is beautiful and the suite is absolutely gorgeous. We loved and appreciated the sparkling wine and cake that was brought up for my husband for his birthday. They also brought up the foam pillows in advance, knowing that its my preference. Location can’t be beat (literally next to the staatsoper). Breakfast was good. Free pressing is a huge plus (done in 2hrs)!

We stayed at the Bristol for two nights and what a wonderful experience. The hotel is a fine example of a very well cared for 'grande lady' of European hotels. From our perspective it really is the jewel in crown of Marriott's Vienna hotels (Lifetime Titanium member). Not sure when last renovated but all facilities and features very up to modern standards. Bed super comfortable, hi-tech air con control, and perfect bathroom and shower (separate bathtub if desired). Located right next to Vienna Opera House.
Excellent full buffet breakfast, the best eggs Benedict, fresh whole avocados and self-serve champagne!
The entire staff totally professional yet very friendly.
We had drinks at the Bristol Bar, dinner at the hotel's restaurant and also had used their spa - all excellent.
We strongly recommend choosing the Hotel Bristol when in Vienna and well worth spending a bit more to stay there for true luxury..

We had previously stayed at the Hotel Bristol when we visited Vienna years ago, so we decided to stay there again when we returned to Vienna this time. The location is perfect. Right next to the beautiful Opera House and within easy walking distance to many sites.
The decor is very heavy, wood, but rich in history. So if you are looking for a contemporary or modern feel, this won't be the place for you.
We may have received an upgraded room because of our membership in the Marriott rewards program, because the room was large, but it had absolutely no view. Our windows looked out at an interior courtyard that was dark, metal, had ladders stored on it, and faced other rooms. Not exactly what you hope for when staying in a luxury hotel and reading the reviews of others who had small balconies overlooking beautiful views. We were given a box of chocolates and a bath bomb for our tub because we had no view. Didn't really make up for it though.
The service we received from the staff was top notch, especially in the dining room the night we ate there. So, mixed feelings about this hotel.

We had a wonderful four-night stay at the Bristol. It is so centrally located we could walk to everything. Our room on the 5th floor was large and comfortable, with a little sitting area and French doors that opened to a view of the Opera House across the street. The staff were very gracious. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning and had lunch at the restaurant one day - everything was delicious. Will definitely come back!

Very well kept historic building with the traditional tall ceilings and marble stair cases.

Great cocktail bar, but quite expensive. Breakfast was very good, high quality and good choice.

Also found the seating option in the elevators very quaint.

Recommend this hotel for comfort, amenities, and great location near all the major shopping walking zones and museums.

I wasn’t sure about this hotel. The pictures screamed “outdated place” to me! Having returned from our visit, I now I feel SO.SILLY. This is the type of place you stay at when you go to Vienna!

There is so much history and elegance in this hotel. The service is absolutely top-notch. Every little corner feels classy. And the location, it can’t be beat.

Every request we made was accommodated with a smile. We were visiting with our two year old twin girls and everyone at the hotel did everything they could to keep them happy.
I loved all the little details , at the restaurant they overheard us saying something about how it would have been nice to have something we didn’t find in the breakfast buffet , five minutes later the waitress had brought that something to our table!! The hotel has come up with this little story books for kids themed around the hotel, they are so cute. We lost one of our girls’ shoes one day and the concierge had no problem calling everywhere we had been the day before trying to find it!

We loved being in Vienna! We loved staying at the Bristol! Highly highly recommend!
