Restaurant and Bar exceed the hotel rooms.

The location is perfect. It is directly across from the Opera House and 2 blocks from the Vienna concert hall of the Vienna Philharmonic. The streetcar and subway are right in front of the hotel for excursions out of the old part of the city. The Hotel Bristol serves a beautiful and yummy breakfast - omelettes made to order,breads unlimited, fruit, yogurt, processed meats, cereals and unlimited juices. The waitress bring any kind of coffee drink to you in a flash.
The room was clean and had old times draperies and carpeting. My room had a terrible odor of lysol that the front desk staff did nothing about despite numerous complaints. The room safe was too small to hold my small apple laptop.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room. I think they are on 5th and 6th floor.

excellent restaurant with wonderful servers (Richard! B!) -very central to everything; right next door to the opera, easy for jump on tour buses; and definitely in the higher end of Vienna. We would definitely stay there again.

The only things I would change: AC in the rooms is more like a chiller. It was warm all day and night. and the portions in the restaurant were HUGE (we felt bad having to waste what they served.)

Room tip: junior suite with a view!

The hotel is well located and you can walk to most major sites in the city centre. The hotel is decorated in an old world baroque style. The restaurant and bar (which has a nice bar food menu) were both very good and the staff were friendly and efficient. The bartender made very good cocktails. The hotel concierge was very helpful with train bookings and museum suggestions. The gym on the 5th floor had a great view and was adequately equipped with a couple of elliptical machines and stationary bikes, a leg and a chest machine, a bench and some light free weights. Our room could have used a slight updating (the room a touch small but with a big bathroom) and the free internet was a bit slow. These are minor points as our stay here was enjoyable.

The hotel is good but we were very disappointed with the room allocated to us for our five night stay. We paid extra for a de luxe room. It was certainly spacious with art deco style decor and a couch and armchair, and the large marble bathroom could not be faulted, nor the walk in wardrobe. However the spaciousness and character were spoilt by two large rectangular pillars (albeit covered in antique style mirrors and soft furnishings) almost at the foot of the bed which had the effect of cutting the room in half. Additionally the windows across the wall beyond the pillars were opaque so there was not even a view into the central well - this would not have been too bad if the attractiveness of the bedroom itself had not been spoilt by the pillars.
It was doubtless unfortunate that the timing of our flight resulted in us not arriving until about 8pm and as the room had not been allocated prior to arrival the reception staff seemed to have some difficulty finding a room available for 5 nights. We did not feel like complaining and repacking after our first night. I don’t think a hotel of this calibre should charge a premium rate for such accommodation and certainly no one enquired whether everything was satisfactory.

The hotel is very centrally located and beautiful. The room included breakfast and the buffet was top notch. I would highly recommend this facility for all of the reasons of comfort, location and amenities.

A comment about the personnel;
My wife was feeling low and passed out in the breakfast area one morning. The staff in its entirety stopped what they were doing and ensured that our every need was filled from medical to comfort to extending checkout to offering anything we needed. Due to the incident, we missed the Euro-rail so the hotel facilitated the car rental to drive to Salzburg, our next destination. The GM Simone and Front Office Manager Sandra were exceptionally caring and helpful. Forever grateful and, for the sake of TripAdvisor readers, the stuff great hotels are made of. You won’t be sorry if you book here.
