This is a great hotel several blocks off the main shopping area in Vienna. The rooms were very large with large bathrooms and sleeping areas. The breakfast was outstanding, the staff was very helpful. The hotel building is beautiful and impressive with an interesting history of notable people that have stayed there.
I thought the location was great. It's on a busy street but away from the areas with throngs of tourists.
We arrived before check-in time and the staff was very helpful in getting us into our rooms as quickly as possible.

Room Tip: If you can arrange for the breakfast as part of your reservation or can pay a nominal fee for it, do...

Dear “JRL46”,

it is my pleasure to learn that you have enjoyed your recent stay with us in the Hotel Imperial and can therefor only thank you for your patronage and honest feedback. The Imperial looks back to a history of 140 years of hospitality, when Dom Pedro II of Brazil was reputably the first imperial guest and I’m very confident that your praising words will further encourage our entire team to deliver the same high level of service you experiences, in the future again.

I hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you soon in the Hotel Imperial again!

Yours sincerely,

My short stay at the Imperial Vienna was greater than my expectations, which were high. Although there was some minor remodeling going on in the lobby, the hotel grounds were so beautifully furnished and decorated, I took the stairs for each opportunity to go and come into my room, which was only on the 3rd floor, To view the granite, the art, the chandeliers and a vintage map of Vienna was loke walking through a small museum! The hotel was a 10 minute walk to Stephansplatz!

From the moment we checked in, the bellman, the concierge, all the staff were not just polite, but extraordinarily friendly. They offered to show us two rooms that were similar (the renovated version and the 'original' version. Both were great, but we loved the vintage style of suite 105. Every person in the hotel was absolutely lovely.
The blue bar is small, intimate, a little expensive but beautiful. The parlor (the public meeting area) was beautiful with antiques, old lighting fixtures and all the appropriate decoations.
Our room had fruit and a tiny sacher tart....which they are famous for....and which was delicious.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay.
And funny moment....a celebrity checked into the hotel and we did not know it until we were exiting and there was a red carpet, red velvet ropes and policeman manning the entrance. We felt like rock-stars :-)

Room Tip: We stayed in suite 105. A lovely yellow and gold traditional room.

This is a five star hotel at it's finest. Our service and room could not have been better when we were there. It is located in an excellent part of the city. And what a city Vienna is. I won't touch upon the same things that others have said before me but you will not regret a stay at this fine establishment. A must stay at location at least once in your life to experience history come alive.

as you would expect, this hotel is magnificent. it is lavishly appointed and quite majestic. we stayed in an elisabeth suite which was extremely opulent, yet very comfortable. the breakfast was quite good. impeccable service - every member of the staff was extremely helpful, friendly and professional. when you stay here you feel a part of the hotel's rich history. although there was some renovation in progress, it was not problematic in any way. the location is perfect. i would definitely return to this hotel.

Room Tip: the elisabeth suite was quite comfortable.

We stayed for several days in an Elisabeth Suite. The room was absolutely beautiful with a great bathroom, sitting area and bedroom. However, in our case, the location of our room on the 1st floor, was unfortunate. Since we were paying full price and all (roughly $1k a night), it was frustrating to be across from the hotel's public restrooms.

In general, we found the service to be wanting. Our included butler brought us chocolates from time to time but any other requests were beyond him and we were to go downstairs to the concierge or front desk. We asked the concierge to make a nail appointment for a mani/pedi, and were referred to a quasi medical facility that had 4 colors of nail polish and some funky looking podiatry machines. Definitely not a great place to send somebody for such a thing.

The dining in-house was good and I would certainly recommend trying and bringing back some Imperial Tortes. We preferred these to the Sacher Tortes.

The location was relatively easy to get to the main area (a couple of minutes were required to get to Opera house area), but the surrounding location itself felt a little rundown almost. Many other parts of Vienna seemed more beautiful.

Room Tip: Try to get on a higher floor away from the street

Dear “TravelingRoger” and partner,

first of all I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your recent stay and for your valued feedback, shared with us and our friends on TripAdvisor. The Suite Elisabeth’s are indeed one of the treasures of the Hotel Imperial, unique with high majestic ceilings, precious oil paintings, diverse colouring and individual floor plan on up to 65 square meters.

It was nevertheless very disappointing for me to learn that we quite clearly did not meet your expectations in regards of the service provided by our Team. Please accept my apologies for the inconveniences you encountered hereby and rest assured that we will definitely follow up with our Department Heads on this issue in order to prevent this in the future again. Furthermore I already asked your Head-Concierge to review the situation regarding the cosmetic salon.

Let me thank you once again for your time to share your observations with us and please accept my apologies for the inconveniences caused. It would be an honour to welcome you back to the Hotel Imperial in the not too distant future.

Yours sincerely,
Heinrich Dominici, Director of Guest Services

Such a rich history of dignified service that is kept alive to this day. Experienced and helpful staff everywhere. Exquisitely decorated. Lavish, upscale, unbelievable!
Everything amazing. Room, bar, restaurant...
The Imperial Torte and coffee!
Best hotel we stayed at during our latest journey that wound through Germany, Austria and Italy.
Put it this way...we ended by staying at the Daniele in Venice and it was a LETDOWN after staying at the Imperial.
I miss it even now and we highly recommend experiencing it.
