“Magnificant hotel with impeccable service”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Vienna. The rooms are spacious and the consierge service couldn't be more helpful. We stayed in the Elizabeth Suite. It has a very romantic atmosphere that would be perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. The hotel is within walking distance of St. Stephen's square and the shopping district.

As soon as you walk through the revolving door and come into the imposing lobby you know that you have not just entered a usual luxury hotel – in the Imperial you are not lodging you are residing!
The building was not meant to be a hotel but a palais. Where else would you find such a pompous staircase called “Kaiserstiege” causing you to leave the elevator behind and choose the stairs to get to one of the numerous suites. Visitors are fascinated by the diversity and individuality of every single room. Each time you are there it is a difficult choice – which colour and which arrangement should it be this time? The suites are furnished with selected antiques, grand stucco work and chandeliers, some of the rooms with separate living and sleeping areas, mansard or two floor suites – one of them is even located in the former chapel of the palais!
Although having the feeling to be sent back in time you will not miss any comfort. In addition to the great furnishing and facilities the hotel also impresses with an outstanding service provided by all the staff members – no matter if it is the reception, butler-service, café, restaurant or bar with live piano music, everyone will be treated like a special guest.
An exceptional experience are the offered meals. The richness of the Champagne-buffet (a la carte breakfast is also possible) in combination with the excellent service brings you hours full of pleasure to start the day with. One of the highlights is a visit in the Restaurant Imperial for dinner. The restaurant offers outstanding meals, selected drinks and Viennese specialities. All these delicacies can be enjoyed in a wonderful classy atmosphere with someone playing the piano in the background and a perfect service by a team managed by an exceedingly elegant “maitre d’hotel”. The best way to finisch the day is to visit the Bar Maria Theresia where a professional service team is there for you. In the bar’s romantic atmosphere, piano music in the background, time seems to stand still.
Regular visits and the excellent service by all the members of the staff have always created a cosy atmosphere and are always one of our highlights throughout the year.

Room Tip: choose a suite - you will enjoy the astonishing variety of different styles...

We left part of our luggage for a side trip to Linz and got them back in 5 ' when we returned. This will be my hotel each time I go to Vienna

A grand hotel with beautiful architecture. Centrally located with easy access to restaurants and shopping. We stayed in the Imperial suite which was lovely and the air conditioners really worked. On a hot summer's day in Europe where air conditioners in most hotels are grossly under specified, it was a wonderful relief to be in our cool cool room. You won't be disappointed with the facilities.
We were traveling on the Romantic Road and this being our final stop, we were able to compare luxury country boutique hotels to large luxury city hotels.  For our future travels we would try to reverse our route to start with the city hotel and end up in the country luxury boutique hotels.  You can't fault the professionalism at Imperial hotel, but it did lack the warmth that we experienced throughout our travel with the smaller more intimate boutique hotels.  That for us made our trip extremely special

We stayed for a week and I had wonderful time at hotel and Vienna because:
> Hotel was close to city center and to most historic sites, near parks and shopping districts
> we were on Maria Theresia suite, it was beautiful, comfortable, clean and perfect for family
> Bathroom was clean and modern
>Room services was very good, on time, warm but there were not many good choices on the menu
> They have fantastic guys, knowledgeable concierge, he recommended very knowledgeable private English speaking tour guide who called Erich. He showed us beautiful places in Vienna, Austria, and Budapest. It was really worth to pay for private tour. We had wonderful time in all these places. Their concierge are very nice and helpful. I asked him for places that rent a stroller, he could not find any places open on Sunday but he went and found me a functional stroller from hotel.
> Hotel has good breakfast choices and good coffee
>The only reason I am not rating hotel excellence because some of the personnel that serve breakfast and personnel on check in/out were not friendly at all. One lady the serve breakfast was very impolite.
If I go back to Vienna I will go to Imperial hotel because I love the big suite , bed, clean and elegance bathroom. I loved classic luxury room decoration and delicious chocolate.

Dear “DPT2006“ and family,

Thank you for your review of your stay experience in September of this year, posted at the end of October. It was very encouraging to hear about so many positive aspects of your stay with us and a special thank you for also pointing out areas to improve in. We have had joint sessions with the respective departments, where your service experience had not met your expectations. These coaching sessions allowed us to highlight our guest expectations and align them with our service standards once again. Thank you for this opportunity.

Let me also take this opportunity to wish you and your entire family a wonderful start into 2013 and looking forward to the opportunity to welcoming you back to Hotel Imperial once again in the not too distant future to also delight you with consistently delivered, impeccable service in all areas of the hotel.

I have always wanted to try the Imperial Hotel at least once. It is the highest rated hotel in Vienna and of course the most expensive. My company would never allow that I pay these rates. However, with the Cash & Points promotion I was able to get a room for 1 night for less that 120$ US, and using a suite night award, I can only say that the Maisonette room they gave me with a balcony overlooking the Church was incredible. Too bad it was only for 1 night.
The service at the reception wa outstanding and they really make you feel welcomed.
I also took the "Breakfast" option, being a Platinum guest as opposed to the bonus points. However, somehow the maitre D from the breakfast changed totaly his attitude towards me when I gave him the free coupon. he never attended me again...while he was attending all other guests. This was a bit of of a cold treatment...at least the food was good.
Checkin out was also very quick and extremely courteous..

Room Tip: If you have a breakfast coupon...show it at the end. :)

Dear “Daniel3282“,

Thank you for sharing your experiences at our hotel during your stay with us in October this year. It was good to note that the Elite Member benefits our global Starwood Preferred Frequent Traveler program provides, helped to make for a most memorable visit to Vienna.

Your comments about the somewhat cold and unwelcoming service at the Café Imperial were also very helpful to refocus the attention of the Maître D and his team on the importance of providing consistent and friendly service to all our guests at the Café.

Let me also take this opportunity to wish you and your entire family a wonderful start into 2013 and looking forward to the opportunity to welcoming you back to Hotel Imperial once again in the not too distant future.

Hotel Imperial is recognized as one of Vienna’s most renowned ‘Grand’ Hotels. The hotel, with its many beautiful chandeliers, extends a gracious blend of classic elegance and modern luxury. Many famous guests (royalty and aristocracy; world leaders; actors/actresses and singers/groups) have stayed here. The hotel also has an interesting museum highlighting many of its famous guests.

The buffet breakfast is very good yet quite expensive. We enjoyed one of our most favorite meals in Austria at the Imperial Café, the hotel’s less formal dining room.

I highly recommend the hotel for quality, service and location.
