“Restaurant Imperial”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2012

We recently had dinner at the Restaurant Imperial. The service was impeccable. Waiters in tailcoat, elegant classic style of service, never over the top and always right. Discreet but present, competent advise but never pushy, the food was beautifully arranged and tasted perfect. We had friends invited for a candle light dinner and the four of us enjoyed the elegant setting of this palace at the Viennese Ringstrasse every second we were there. Excellent piano player in the background.

This is the place to stay in Vienna if you intend to stay in a hotel that reflects the best of town and is steeped in Vienese history. The hotel used to be a palace and it shows: an impressive hall, even more impressive staircases, large and stately rooms. The decoration of the rooms is classic, lots of pillows, lots of Louis something furniture, but here it fits the hotel like a glove. The location of the hotel can't be beat, within easy walking distance to the Opera and the major museums. I prefer the rooms that are not on the 'Ring' since they are more quiet, but the view is less of course. The bigger rooms are on the Ring and have good views and are even larger than the rest. Bathrooms are spacious, lots of (green) marble. Breakfast is served in a typical Viennese lunchroom and is lavish. The bar is cosy. Service is excellent. In short, the best place to be when one wants to experience Vienna like a prince.

Room Tip: on the 'Ring'for a view, in the back for quiet.

Particularly that the service attention of our team members met or even exceeded your expectations and our unique historic background created that extra special atmosphere for you. Also appreciate you highlighting the daily Champagne Breakfast at our Café Imperial as a “must do”.

We lived in a legend from another epoch for a weekend. We stayed in a very beautiful and spacious suite on two floors. It was located at an upper floor and we had a wonderful view on Wien's roofs and Karlskirche. The suite was very elegantly furbished. The bathroom was huge with plenty of marble everywhere. The service was kind and professional. The location convenient for visiting the centre of Wien. Overall the hotel is very fascinating and with plenty of historic atmosphere. It is perfect for those who love breathing history during their stay.

Our agents from Destination Europe (www.destinationeuropeonline.com) stayed here in December.

Amazing hotel - the elegance and details of the decor at this hotel are out of this world. It is very much like staying in a Palace - if you are looking for a true palatial experience, this is it for sure.

We had a Junior Suite with giant windows looking out over the Kärntner Ring road. The room had a very large entry area, walk in closets, a very large bathroom a sitting area in the room and the most beautiful crystal chandelier hanging in the room that I have ever seen.

The bed was very comfortable. My only issue was that the bathroom seemed a little outdated and the shower did not drain well. It was hard to find any other flaws with this hotel. The grand staircase is a must and the hotel is famous for the house made Imperial Tarts, which is a chocolate truffle, supposedly based on a secret recipe that is said to have been created by an apprentice cook who fashioned it when Emperor Franz Joseph opened the Hotel in 1873.

It was hard to leave this room, but we only had two days, so away we went.

Great access to the trams and the underground - the transportation in Vienna is very easy to use, so getting around is a snap. We did not spend nearly enough time here, so we will be back again. Love, love loved this hotel!

Dear „Destination Europe“,

Thank you ever so much for your full marks and approval of our product and services. It is heartwarming to hear that you instantly felt at home at our historic palace and all around comfortable. Rest assured that we have already had a complete maintenance check on all our showers to ensure no further drainage issues may arise. We will also take your comment about the bathroom interior into consideration for our next renovation plans.

How wonderful that you also discovered one of our architectural gems – the Grand Royal Staircase – and hopefully you will be able to further explore our hotel and other stunning places here in Vienna in the not too distant future.

Do not hesitate in contacting me directly or any of my team members for assistance with a future visit.

Sunny greetings from Vienna to Columbus, Ohio.

Everything about the Hotel Imperial Vienna was, indeed, Imperial Vienna. One really does feel that they are the guest of royalty staying in one of its rooms - in our case a Jr. Suite that was really just a VERY large room with a lovely marble bath, authentic (or good imitations) period piece furnishings, high, high ceilings with a lovely - no make that magnificent - chandalier.

The service was not the stiff Austrian that you would expect in Vienna (am I sterotyping? - we did experience this in the Imperial's restaurant - a comment about this later). Rather it seemed genuinely friendly, was very efficient and was exactly what one would expect at a high-end five star establishment.

Breakfast buffet (or order from the menu) was included in our room rate and we enjoyed the breakfast greatly each of the three mornings we had it - a great selection, a lovely room, top service.

We ate one night in the dining room. The food was truly exceptional, truly and we had a wonderful meal. (Take note that we are foodies and affluent ones at that and have eaten at stared restuarants all over the world - we pay attention to when to say truly exceptional and when not to.) Save for one ding, the service was also exceptional. The one ding - the waitstaff did not point out to me that service was already included in the tally and so I left an additional 40 euro - a not insignificant sum - as a tip and when I discovered this it, shall we say, left a bad taste.

A small black mark on an otherwise five star experience at the Hotel Imperial.

Dear “noclvrname” and partner,

Your review about your stay at our hotel was most encouraging for my team. Thank you for all the compliments and for sharing your positive impressions with other travellers. I am sorry to hear that the final interaction with our restaurant team left a bad taste after an otherwise most enjoyable dining experience. Please do accept my most sincere apologies for any miscommunication on our behalf that left you with that impression. Generally restaurant pricing in Austria is published inclusive of all taxes and charges, however no specific “service charge” or gratuity are taken out of the price and distributed to the service and/or kitchen team. It is common practice to leave a gratuity of approximately 10% of the total bill if the overall satisfaction met or exceeded your expectations.

I hope that this clarifies the matter to your satisfaction and that we will be able to have the privilege to welcome you back once again to the Hotel Imperial in the not too distant future.

Best regards from Vienna to Palos Verdes Estates.

Being chaufured from the airport to the entrance of the Imperial is just a taste of the comfort and luxury that awaits. That main lobby just oozes traditional style, and surely that's one of the reasons you come to Vienna! Being so warmly greeted and then escorted to our Elisabeth suite where the butler was on hand to help with anything you require just added the icing on the cake.
Rooms can be grand and luxurious, and they are, but the staff make the hotel. What they do and how they do it is the vital ingredient, and the Imperial has it in abundance. As it was a valentines trip breakfast was taken in the room and it was delicious......so was the Schnitzel and beef for dinner, also in the room......well it was a romantic trip!
Only fault was the first early morning tea came without milk! but so quickly remedied.Would recomend to anyone who wants a little bit of something special......not the cheapest....but the best. Will go again because there remains so much to do in Vienna.

Room Tip: Elisabeth suites are beautiful and if on the back so very quiet.

This is a magical hotel, that gives you a very warm welcome in a high class environment. The food and rooms are remarkable as is the service. Great location in a wonderful city, one of the best meals we have evr had in their restaurant.

We enjoyed our time here that much that we gave our parents a weekend break here as a treat for their birthdays. The hotel treat them like royalty and made it a really special weekend for them.
