Owner description: The Cultural World Heritage Site of Schönbrunn Palace is Austria's most frequently visited tourist attraction. In the palace the residential and state rooms with their original furnishings and decorations convey an authentic impression of the imperial lifestyle. The park and gardens surrounding the palace make Schönbrunn in a unique synthesis of Baroque art as well as providing a convenient and highly popular recreational area for Vienna's population.

“Excellent palace and gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

The sheer size of the palace and gardens is mind-blowing. You need at least half a day to really explore this place, especially the gardens and the maze and other attractions outside the palace itself. Take a guided tour of the rooms inside

“Underwhelming for an imperial residence”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

I expected something along the lines of Versailles... The Habsburgs lived modestly. If you want to have an idea of 18th century opulence, visit what remains of the Belvedere interiors.
The Sissi ticket is recommended as you skip the line.

“Gorgeous and grounds are beautiful .”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

We were there beginning of May and the crowds were huge. I was squashed throughout the tour which made me not appreciate the palace as much as I could have. the grounds are open until late at night so one can just go and enjoy the gardens without having to pay a fee. Bathroom near opening of entrance gate charges a fee but the one inside palace does not.

“wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

Have visited the castle under sunshine: the park is wonderful. the apartments are more "human" then the hofburg in Vienna, well furnished and with somptuous rooms (chines decoration, cristal mirrors...); it's pure luxury and fine decoration as you've never seen anywhere else. The cafe Gloriette at the top of the park is very calm and beautiful with viennese pastries and coffees..
