Worth a visit if you have time to spare. The guided tour is interesting and costs only €9 lasting around 40-45 minutes.

We were so glad to have had the opportunity to watch ‘Les Contes d’Hoffmann’ on stage. Although the ticket was a bit pricey, the talent of the singers, the gorgeous and innovative set design and the beautiful atmosphere made it all so worth it. The subtitle screen for each seat made available in different languages was the icing on the cake. A brief tour of the building is not enough to truly experience the grandeur of the Vienna opera house. I highly recommend attending a performance.

Even if you’re not a fan of the opera, it is definitely worth taking a tour of the Vienna opera house. First, the architecture and decor of the lobby, seating area and public spaces are stunning. Also, it is amazing to see the backstage area, which is significantly larger than the seating area and stage to learn what it takes to pull off an opera production. These skills are evident in the tour itself as approximately six tours, conducted in different languages, simultaneously work their way through the theater. This tour is definitely worth taking and will likely inspire you to see the production of an opera.

First time enjoying the Staatsoper Vienna. Verdi's La Traviata. What a great performance that was. We will remember this and can't wait to visit again once we are back to Vienna.

Of course there are tourists visiting also. Jeans and sweaters. Well, this is how it looks today. Some very elegant people, too.

This amazing and beautiful Opera House is unique in that it will have several different operas and/or ballet performances on stage every evening of the week. It has a highly tuned and slick team of engineers every morning switching the sets. If you cannot or do not wish to actually go to an opera or ballet, please do take a behind the scenes tour of the opera house .. available in several languages .. as the size and depth of the Opera House is deceiving on first glance. This is a building which lost the front half to bombing during WW11 and was completely rebuilt after the war to its original design. The tour includes seeing the beautiful private boxes the Imperial family used and if you are lucky and there’s is no rehearsal on stage for that evening’s performance, you will also see and marvel at the depth of the main stage.
Extremely impressive!
