“Beethoven's One & Only Opera”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

It was beautiful - out of a movie. We were lucky enough to hear and see Beethoven's only opera. We had great seats and it was worth every penny!!

“I was disappointed by the Opera”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

I did not think the Opera merits all the great reviews. We took a tour and were not impressed by the building

“Don Giovanni and the 19th century”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

The friend who hosted us in Vienna , suggested we visit the Staat Opera and attend one of the evenings , at the ridiculous price of 3 Euro for a standing seat. So, we took his advice and arrived there at 6pm , set our scarves on the balcony and enjoyed the sumptuous halls and little sandwiches in the anteroom . Nothing prepared us to the live experience of seeing a 3 hour opera, standing up -but- it was worth it !!! So, if you love the music and the scenery, it is highly advised and well worth it! Enjoy!

“Amazing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

Going round the State Opera House was fascinating. Stage scenery was being changed for Madame Butterfly + you had a feel of the place including the grandeur & history. If you have enough money buy a tiny jar of honey made by the bees whose hives are on the roof. You can get standing tickets one and a half-hours before a performance, or watch on screen outside. We saw part of a Kurt Weil opera there the evening before our tour.

“so beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2012

We had a guided tour that showed the main stage and the many stage hands moving pianos and props around for that night's performance. Beautiful reception rooms, some only for the aristocracy and emperors.
