This place is a real jem! Located in the very centre of Vienna, clean and affordable, with kind and helpfull staff.
I was a bit affraid that single room I booked will be small and uncomfortable, but since that was the only option fittning my budget at the time, I took a chance. I am really glad I did it, coz, even though small, room is comfortable, especially if you are planning to explore the city.
Vienna has lot to offer and you definitely won't spend much time in the hotel.
For that time you do, small details will put smile of your face (like candy on a pillow each night), plus a tasty breakfast (on Sunday you'll have a chance to try Austrian treats), and the best location you can imagine.
I would gladly stay there again.

Room Tip: Try to book directly with hotel, they may give you a better deal then travel agent.

A superb place to stay. On the edge of the pedestran area, but not at all noisy - as we were expecting (particularly having spotted the earplugs on the bedside table!). Staff are friendly and, as a fanily-run hotel, it had a very personal feel. The breakfasts were amazing and - leaving for our flight early - the 'packed breakfast' was the best we have ever had. The building itself is beautiful. We sing THE HOTEL'S praises to all our friends. There are lots of hotels to chose from in Vienna - ignore the rest and STAY HERE!

Room Tip: The bathroom was small and an extracter fan would have been useful!

despite the really lovely welcome and helpful and friendly staff, this hotel left a lot to be desired.

The location was brilliant, not far to walk to any of the main attractions. The rooms were adequate in size but the bathroom!!!!! I've never seen such a small one, You could just about get in the door, and not much space to put anything.

The breakfast room was much too small for the amount of guests staying, we had to wait on a couple of occasions before we could get seated. I felt sorry for the staff, actually only one person serving, she got quite harrassed as the room was full and she was the only one serving! The breakfast was fine, quite a few things to choose from.

There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room so if you wanted a hot drink you had to ask at reception who were very obliging but it meant that you didn't have the facility readily available when you needed it.

There were some nice touches though, it was the feast of St. Nicholas (or was it St. Stephen?) and we had some lovely mementoes left in our rooms, sweets, fruit etc. And in the breakfast room there were various decorations commemorating the feast.

Vienna is a beautiful city with lots of attractions. We went just before Christmas and it was truly magical, lots of snow, lots of Christmas atmosphere, lots of gluwein!!!l

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the street.

brilliant position for the Innere Stadt, 4 minutes walk from the Opera house. Glass of Prosecco on arrival, friendly and helpful staff, a beautiful room, quiet. Excellent breakfast. A minor drawback, the bathroom was a bit small. I would certainly stay there again

Most highlights are just steps away, that's very convenient. Staff very helpful and friendly (you should ask them to check the availability of any events you're not 100% sure about, especially in winter, as some venues change schedule). Clean. Fast internet. Charming. The room description provided on their web site is quite honest, the single rooms are very small and face a wall, but they're quiet, have a large enough closet and a table. I found it comfortable for a city trip, as I don't expect a large room in a mid-priced hotel right in the center of the city. Very long legged people might find using the bathroom a bit challenging. Remember star rating varies from one place to another, so take a well informed decision.
Little details could make the overall experience better. Breakfast is just ok: they have fruits, but not cut, there are juices, but not fresh, there are no plain unsweetened cereals; there's a nice selection of cheese, cold cuts, breads and pastries. "Amenities" is a big word for two in one liquid soap/shampoo. To avoid future comments, they could mention the room size on the description. The room is equiped with a safe, so it doesn't make to much sense to pay for its key, it is not like they could rent it to someone else. Double door on single room makes it hard to go through with luggage.

Stayed at the hotel in late December 2010. I went to Vienna to see an opera performance, and what better hotel to choose than one called "At the Viennese Opera". Especially if it is located 3 minutes walking distance from the Opera house, and it appeared in a novel by John Irving.

The hotel is family-run, and it shows. The welcome is cordial and the service is excellent - always with a smile. A glass of champagne upon arrival - definitely above its category. There are a few other extras not typical for the 3-star category - mainly little details to make your stay that little more comfortable (an in-room scale, earplugs - not that they would be needed, and a few more details). Other things are definitely 3-star: The bathroom amenities (poor quality - bring your own), the coarse, heavily starched bedding which will irritate sensible skin (suddenly that 300-thread egyptian linen in the Sheratons and Sofitels of this world doesn't seem like such a gimmick). But mostly everything is adequate.

Pity about the room size, then. I had a single room, and the web page did warn that it might be tiny. Well, I have been thinking hard trying to remember whether I have ever been in a smaller room of any kind - and no, I haven't. I believe that a smaller room would not even be physically possible. To give you an idea: The only angle which TV could be watched from was while sitting on a toilet with the door open. I'm not exaggerating. The bed, for example, was embedded in a niche in the wall. It was so short that I had to sleep diagonally (I'm not a tall person).

Breakfast was included, but the breakfast room was again so tiny that I simply didn't fit in. There was no table available, and I didn't feel like sharing a postage-stamp-sized table with 2 people I didn't know. So I walked out and had a breakfast at one of the gazillion places a few minutes from the hotel.

Because make no mistake: The hotel has the absolutely best location in the city. Minutes from everywhere, at the beginning of a pedestrian zone, yet easily accessible by taxi. That, coupled with the pleasant service, are its main strengths.

We booked this place for the location and that it purported to be a friendly place. Initial check was great but the place is over price (€120/night) for Vienna at this time of year.

On requesting a kettle, we were offered a pot of hot water the first time, but the second time was begrudgingly told that they normally charged for a cup of tea and coffee (€3 each).

On checkout would not negotiate on a late checkout fee despite not being full. We ended up checking into another hotel for the afternoon whilst waiting for the night train to Zurich.

Beds are short (no good if taller than 170cm) and very soft, maybe time for new matresses.

Also, make sure you get a room away from the main street - the street noise is not great and the windows and walls are thin.

Overall, I would say that you could do far worse, but there is far better available for better value.
