“With a little attention it could become a 5 rating”

We stayed at the hotel over Easter and on the whole it was a pleasant stay. Here are the pro's and cons.

Pros:
The checking was the quickest ever. We were handed the key and went straight to the room without too much ado.
Location is excellent (just off St.Stephens) and the road is quiet enough.
The room we had was a 'maisonette' type with an upstairs and downstairs. It had most amenities one requires. I admit I am not a fan of old world decor but this one was tastefully done representing the old style Viennese traditional decor.
Lighting was pretty good too.
The breakfast was a small buffet style with Eggs and sausages made to order - decent enough for a couple of days.

Cons:
We had an incident where the cleaning staff forgot to empty one of the toilet bins. We told the concierge, and they had it removed. At that point we thought nothing more about it. However the next day we found that the wine and water glasses we used the previous night (on the table in the room) were not replaced. They were evidenty used particularly the wine glasses that still had a red wine residue in them. Two incidents in two days.... pity.

Neutral:
We used the restaurant and the food was decent - not wow though. Service was efficient enough in terms of the time taken to order and food delivery.

While not as grandiose as its more famous peers on the Ring, Hotel Konig drips in history. Our "traditional-style" room was artfully decorated with plenty of wood and red. I don't actually like red decor, but the room was beautifully appointed without bordering on gaudy.

The included breakfast was simple but the service was great; our coffee and tea always arrived with a smile. You can order eggs straight from the kitchen, which is part of the free breakfast.

The location is also absolutely unbeatable. It is very quiet and just a few steps away from St. Stephen's (and the shopping district).

Room Tip: Ask for a "traditional-style" room.

Excellent five days over New Year. Superb position just off Stephansplatz, just about as central as you can get! Very helpful staff. Restaurant not accesible for wheelchair but every morning and evening a reserved table set for us in the lounge bar. Lovely big double room with enormous bathroom and walk-in shower. Could have done with some handrails around toilet and in shower but we manged quite easily.
Vienna is very wheelchair friendly. Trams, buses and UBahn all accessible and apart from a few cobbled areas very easy to get around. Not all restaurants and cafes are accessible so best to check first.
This was our first big trip with a wheelchair and it all worked brilliantly.

This hotel is historic, oldest in Vienna and connected in various ways to Mozart. Central lobby is an atrium, very comfortable with a distictive bar and connections to the dining room and reception. This is a small hotel, which we like, and quite comfortable. Some of the reception staff were a bit on the brusque side, particularly, I noticed, with Americans but overall the room and dining staff were very friendly and helpful. I would certainly return, particularly for the location, which is directly behind St. Stephan's cathedral.

Our group of three middle aged women friends stayed here in a maisonette for four nights, and loved it. The maisonette was spacious, with a foyer, master bedroom, and bathroom downstairs, and upstairs another bathroom and a bedroom with two singles.

The hotel could not be better located, on a quiet street just off of Stephanplatz. There is a lovely lounge that is in an enclosed central courtyard. We had drinks there several evenings -- very cozy, and nice service.

The breakfast is included and is good but not great. There's a buffet of cold items, and at your request they will bring you an omelette cooked as you like it, along with bacon/ham/sausage, etc. (No extra charge for this.) The wait staff will also take your order for specific coffee items. (No extra charge for this either.) Service was good. (However, we ate dinner at the hotel restaurant once and found the food unremarkable and the service uneven.)

The hotel was an outstanding value given its location. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Excellent hotel in great location for exploring Vienna. Everything was in walking distance. We had a maisonette room, which had a double room, bathroom and then a small upstairs area with a single bed, coffee table, sofa & tv. There were chocolates left everytime the beds were made. Our daughter loved those and the fact her little bed had curtains. She called it her princess bed. The breakfast was very well stocked with hams, cheeses, cereal, fruit & yoghurts. There was also other things that could be chosen off the menu and cooked. Service at breakfast was very good. However, the hotel had a lovely menu for dinner and for our first meal on arrival it was a real let down. The service was very poor. The food had about 40-60 minutes between courses. My mother-in-law was given the wrong meal. The bill was also incorrect as one of us had had the 3course fixed menu. It was rather expensive for what it was. So the following evenings we ate elsewhere. The reception staff were very helpful. Great hotel apart from lack of service at dinner.

The staff was great. They had my room key ready when I returned to the hotel! The central location is fantastic since you can return any time to relax and drop off any purchases then head back out. The restaurant is good too. I WILL stay here again with my next trip to Vienna!
