Owner description: For centuries the Vienna Hofburg was the centre of the Habsburg empire. Today the palace houses three museums which afford historically authentic insights into the traditions and everyday life of the imperial court: The Imperial Apartments with their original furnishings and decoration, the Sisi Museum with its sensitive staging of the empress' life, and the Imperial Silver Collection which contains a comprehensive range of tableware and other utensils used at the imperial court.

The Silver collection blew our mind. We spent the whole time just trying to wrap our brains around imperial europe. The Sisi museum was very well done, also. And the rooms were beautiful!

“Spectacular Attraction”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

If you have a day or two in Vienna you must make time to stop by the Imperial Palace! We made the mistake of going on a Saturday and the tour lines were really long, however it was worth the time it took to view some of the beautiful areas of the palace and grounds. Be sure to check on the Spanish Riding School schedules if you are a horse lover, the famous Lipizzaner Stallions are based here within the palace and put on shows almost daily when they are in town!

“Sisi's Rooms”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We took the tour of Sisi's rooms in the Imperial Palace, it is worth the extra couple of Euros for the guide. The English tour was at 2pm. Fantastic history of the end of an empire with an idea of what a public life can entail. Sisi struggled with her health because of this and toured widely, while the Emperor stayed at home with his mistress.

The sheer volume of some of the stuff they needed for parties is amazing as well.

A treat.

“Yep, it's a Hapsburg Palace”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

It's a nice place and a combined ticket gets you into the Sisi Museum, Imperial Apartments, and the Silver collection. A further combined ticket gets you into Schönbrunn, which is what I recommend as it saves you money, skips the line, and that's a cooler palace anyway.

So the interior is cool though if I recall they don't allow pictures and that is always a minus. Other minuses include if you have already been to a lot of other palaces this one blends into them. Also if you're not a student it can be a bit pricey.

Bottom line:
If you are a palace enthusiast or a this is your first one I recommend it. If you've been to a lot of them and are a little iffy on spending the cash... skip it and it's still all good.

“Just wonderful”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

The location of our last company X-Mas party. The buildings are just wonderful.

... and you will see one of the most beautiful scenic city views on this planet on your way walking out of Hofburg onto Heldenplatz. The view of Nationalbibliothek, the two museums, Parliament, Rathaus, Imperial Theatre, the parks in between and the govermental part of Hofburg itself is just breathtaking.
