“Shopping street”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2014

Car-free street, this is the place to be for some window shop or to buy some souvenirs. Probably you will walk through this street going from the Vienna’s Opera House to Karlsplatz to go to the St. Charles ‘s Church anyway, but even if you don't, worth the visit.

“A beautiful promenade surrounded by historic buildings.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2013

Too many of the reviews here have already said it...this is a beautiful strolling/shopping/people watching street ringed by centuries of historic buildings in one of the world's truly beautiful cities. If in Vienna for longer than a couple days, don't miss it!

“Pedestrian friendly shopping area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

I went to these shopping area on the way to see the St Stephen Cathedral. The long avenue starts from the end of Karlsplatz up to St Stephens Cathedral. The whole area is full of high end european brands and there was even two large Swarovski stores a few metres from each other along the same side of the street.

During the months of late November to December during the yuletide season the area lights up with twinkling lights and decors from the various stores.Despite the cold weather there were a lot of tour groups and pedestrians shopping.

“Good shopping, big-name shops”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

This was the quintessential shopping street of the city: extremely wide pedestrian walkways, big-name shops, souvenir shops, etc. I indulged in a few treats at Swarovski, at their larger flagship store, and the fantastic Manner (chocolate wafers, etc) store at the beginning of the street near the metro station. As luck would have it, I was in time to take major advantage of a sale on their incredible chocolate wafers - a true Austrian masterpiece! However, as at least one reviewer commented: please watch your handbags AND bags of purchase - roving packs of thieves and pickpockets were in force (and in a greater number than shoppers; we visited in October, and on a very nice day). My poor husband was actually encircled several times as he patiently waited for me outside stores, and just carrying an ordinary shopping bag! He felt it was necessary to place my (small) Swarovski bag on the bottom of this bag to deter more attention. I didn't expect this activity on this type of street - clearly designed to attract tourists and natives - as bad as any large or well-known train station! Apparently the police don't think it's worth their time to have an obvious profile, as compared to say, Florence, Italy. What a pity for their tourist industry.

“Shopping street”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

On of two biggest shopping streets, offers every thing you want: shops, cafes, restaurants, banks, hotels, street artists, souvenir shops. Alway crowded with tourists, atmosphere there is just amazing. I would suggest to explore tinny streets around this main street.
