We visited Meierei for an early dinner. The venue itself is very nice and
pleasant, nestled in a park in the very center of Vienna. The menu is short and
divided into logical sections - classics, seasonal fare, daily specials. This is
a milk bar with a focus on cheeses, so cheese platters are also on the menu. We
opted for wild duck casserole, pheasant confit, salmon trout dish and the
cheeses. The food was excellent with very few things to criticize. The selection
of wines is rather small but the wines we had were good. The one weak spot we
found was the staff: although efficient and professional, they hardly spoke any
English, were not completely able to explain the dishes and sometimes made a
confusing situation more confusing. That said, we really liked the dinner and
would definitely return for the food.
