“A grey concrete building that houses a wealth of animals.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

The aquarium is located in a rather bunker-esque building, not giving much clue to the diversity of animals housed within. The fishtanks were decently sized, with a great number of different animals such as hammerhead sharks, snakes, seaturtles, spiders, lizards, bats, monkeys, seahorses, and much more.

Don't get me wrong, the tanks are not huge in any way, so if you expect massive spectacles this is not the place for you, but if you would like to see a range of different animals, for a reasonable price then Haus de meres is a good choice, my gf loved it.

Be sure to go to the top of the building, you can go outside, and it offers a great view of vienna.

Steer clear of the cantina though, ok food and sourly staff.

“Creative use of space:)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

Easy to find and a fun thing to see on 1 January:) from outside it looks grey and creepy but on the inside they did a great job making space for fishes, birds and reptiles. Take the elevator to the top floor ( on a clear day the terrace is the place to check out) and walk your way down exploring the zoo. Lots of snakes and fishes, the big tank with turtles and sharks was the highlight along with the tiny monkeys who check out your bag in search for treats:) our daughter enjoyed the visit a lot and although you are done within an hour it is worth seeing!

“Go on a clear day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2012

I wish we had gone here the first day we were in Vienna since we are here for 2 weeks it would have been worth it to get the Annual Pass and go several times. This is a great place for families- our kids are 5,8,&11 and they all enjoyed the exhibits. However, the down side is that it is not very big- the whole thing took us 1.5 hours. That being said I thought it was a little expensive for the one time visit. The exhibits were great and the history of the location was interesting from an adult's point of view. By far the highlight was the observation deck which on a beautiful, sunny day allowed us to see fabulous views of the city. Overall a good way to spend a few hours and the kids had a good time.

“Spend a relaxing afternoon surrounded by exotic animals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

although I’m not a fan of reptiles, I really enjoyed the time I spent in this extraordinary indoor zoo. The variety of fish, reptiles, insects and animals is amazing. The little monkeys are very friendly and they seem to enjoy the visitors’ company.

“Old Nazi Anti-aircraft tower? Fill it with animals.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Too well built to tear down, so they turned it into a 9 story zoo. Featuring everything from monkeys to sharks. The top floor is open air allowing visitors great views of the city as the walk all the way around the tower.
