Description: Residence of Imperial Pleasures The Habsburg family resided in their summer residence, Schönbrunn Palace from the mid 18th century onwards. In 1904 emperor Franz Josef declared the palace to his main residence. Following this great tradition, the Querfeld family named the Café they established in best Viennese tradition, "Café Residenz". Our guests at the Café Residenz are served with imperial delicacies such as our coffee speciality, Maria Theresa and even one of Franz Josef's favorite dishes, the Tafelspitz, a boiled filet of beef. You will also find the tradition recipe of Kaiserschmarrn, a schredded pancake made with raisins and sugar. The bakers to the crown, "Hofbackstube" are located in the stately vaults below the café, special apple strudel shows are held every hour. The facilities of the Café Restaurant Residenz are reserved for our non-smoking guests. If you wish to smoke you may do so on the terrace of our café.

“Good coffee and cakes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2014

For a good cake selection , a nice coffee or tea you cannot go past this cafe in the Schunbrun palace gardens . They serve light lunches as well as all the standard schnitzel type meals. We had the ubiquitous strudel of course and one made with cream cheese . The setting is lovely , we chose inside because too many smokers were puffing away on the terrace outside , it was quiet and a nice smoke free environment.

“In a Splendid Atmosphere wonderfull meals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2014

In a splendid and charming atmosphere, I enjoyed the best “Wienerschnietzel" served with a goergius salad and "Apfel Strudel” served in a warm vailla cream.
The service was in line with the expectations and the location.
A place to stop after a visit to the Schoenbrun Castle”.

“Nice when visiting Schonbrunn”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2014

Will admit that expectations were not high as most cafes and restaurants at museums/tourist spots tend to be overpriced with average food. However, the quality and range of food here was great and definitely exceeded expectations. It's also very convenient after the long tour of Schonbrunn palace.

“Good Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2014

Went to the Residenz for luch after our tour of the Palace, it was a lovely sunny day so sat outside. Much appreciated the mist being sprayed to keep cool, place was packed but the service was very prompt and polite. Good menu and the food was delicious.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2014

It is in one line with Versailles near Paris, Nymphenburg in Munich and several other famous royal residences slightly outside the city. But it is very well kept and does not give the "worn out" feeling when visited (like Versailles does for instance).
This was my second visit and certainly not the last one.
