It was ok but the comparion between quality and price was ...
All desserts were excellent. Try the ice-cream.
Very polite stuff.

I don't really understand the bad reviews for this restaurant. We ate their twice while we were in Vienna and had good meals and service both times. The atmosphere is awesome. It is in a cellar that probably dates back 700 years, but isn't cramped, as the ceilings are high. Our servers were friendly and spoke enough English so ordering wasn't a problem. The food isn't fancy but it is traditional and ours was very good, and it is a very inexpensive restaurant. They have a very fun violinists and accordionists that play. We had a great time there and will go back when we are in the old town.

Every time when I happen to be in Vienna, I go to this restaurant. The interior is very authentic and the food is absolutely delicious. They serve one of the best lamb schnitzels in Vienna and their house wine is great - both white and blackcurrant one! As for the prices, they are no higher than in other Viennese restaurants of the same class. In the evening they have live music which adds charm to the place.
Not all of the waiters speak English, but the menu is in both languages, so there is no problem with ordering food even if you don't know German.
I always recommend this cozy place to my friends when they go to Vienna and they speak highly of it.

a must see for the vienna visitor. This cellar is three storeys deep under the street-level. The food is not much of an experience, but not really bad - traditional viennese food. They have a lunchtime menu, which is quite cheap. Beware if you have a drink too much, it is not easy to come up the stairs!

I'm not sure what all of the other reviewers expected, but we enjoyed our dinner here. The setting is a typical old vaulted cellar / beer hall (heurige). There were 2 musicians - a violin and an accordion player. And a very traditional Austrian menu. We had the Wiener schnitzel which we thought was a cut above the average and the meat dumplings with sauerkraut which was delicious. Skip the house wine. Bring cash to pay. And as long as you're not expecting a super gourmet meal but rather a healthy traditional one, you'll enjoy.
