Cosy place, local people, reasonable price, good service, delicious food. I was lucky to find a spot and try out some dishes of the local cuisine. It was also a good opportunity to get out of the restaurants made for tourists and having a authentic Austrian dinner.

Thank André T

We were checking out restaurant menus in Dorotheergasse just off Graben when a guy asked if we were looking for somewhere to eat. He pointed out this place opposite saying it served local food to local people and he used it every time he came to Vienna. We tried it and came back the following evening and if we hadn't gone home the next day we would have visited again. The goulash on a cold November evening was just wonderful, tasty and filling. The service is friendly and helpful and the prices beggared belief in central Vienna.

We finally found Reinthaler's Beisl on our last night in Vienna. It is a casual, typical place just off the Graben in the inner city and is open Sundays. We had a huge schnitzel with a green salad atop potatoes, a delicious lachsfillet (salmon) with boiled potatoes, a large Gusser on draught, and a soft drink, all for under thirty euros. The food came fast and tasted good, the service was friendly, and the restaurant was atmospheric.

Reinthaler's would be a good choice any night of the week. We wish we had found them at the beginning of our visit.

This is an amazing, no frills, restaurant serving good honest Austrian food at a very good price. We did reserve a table for the evening on a busy holiday weekend, thankfully: the place was full and I think we were the only tourists at that time.
It's quite easy to find: just off the Graben (a main tourist area) in Dorotheagasse. Look for the famous Hawelka Café sign and it's right there on the same side.
I lived in Vienna for 2 years, just 300 yards away from the restaurant & never went in: what a pity. Read reviews on Tripadvisor before my visit!!

If you want to taste best Apple-strudel in Vienna, this is the place. Small, local restaurant in a pedestrian-only street near the Stephansplatz.
