“Good coffee, great vibe”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

Great Viennese coffee shop. Service was good, coffee was great and for a reasonable price.
We drank cafe lattes and read our books for a few hours and it was a lovely place to just hang out in the First District on a Sunday afternoon. My only complaint was that it was very hot inside.

“Bad service”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

What an unpleasant time! The coffee was good and the location, tucked away near the rising school and the Jewish museum, very good BUT the staff is so disengaged and rude. They take orders without bothering to give menus, guests need to stand up and go where the waiters are congregated by the coffee station and tell them their orders. We're not tourists so we speak in German and are responded to in English. Such a pity because the coffee is rich in history and is a lovely setting but the off putting staff makes me never want to return again. Schade!

“A place with tremendous history and atmosphere with non English speaking staff.”
Reviewed June 24, 2013 via mobile

If you can handle the communication gap , this place is a gem. Situated in a quiet lane between the palace and the opera, one can sit and watch the horse carriages go by. The place is a literary restaurant with innumerable newspapers in various languages. It is frequented by locals more than tourists. The interiors of the restaurant could pass off for a 1920s movie set. The food was adequate and not expensive.

“Charming cafe in quiet street”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

It was warm enough to sit outside when we came here, and we basked in the spring sunshine while listening to the Fiaker horses clip-clopping by. Waiter very friendly, coffee good and cake delicious.

“Shabby, but cheap good food, let down by dire, arrogant service”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

Basically if the elderly guy with the beard is serving leave at once - he thinks he's doing you a favour and refuses to speak anything other than German - fair enough - but will also ignore anyone who isn't one of the locals

The food is ok - it is what it is. But he takes the expression " up himself" to new heights
