“Spotless Mixture of Old and New”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

This is the first stop on arriving in Vienna! Take a stroll and watch history unfold as you see the old and new architecture construct a city like no other in the world. Forget the naysayers who complain of inconsistency in building styles - its a city that's over 1500 years old! And the best part of the historic center? It's free! Let me mention that again: IT'S FREE! If you get tired, stop for a coffee and strudel, reenergize yourself, and carry on. You'll definitely find parks and other places to sit and enjoy, so get out and explore! This is easily the best way to get your bearings and decide what to do.

“This should be the first thing you do.”

If you only have one day in Vienna and you have difficult time deciding where to go, the best solution is to go for a walk in Vienna. You do not need to plan a visit to a Museum, believe me you will see an astonishing amount of public art in the streets of Vienna. It is such a pleasure to walk in the historic center of Vienna where you could see palaces, beautiful churches and buildings. In my opinion, the only other city in Europe where you will have this "imperial" feeling will be Paris. However, Paris is not as pedestrian friendly as Vienna. The city is excellent every season, but the best time to go is Spring and Autumn. Take a closer look to the façade of the apartment buildings, you will bu surprised.

Its a travel back in time ... forget the cars and loose yourself among small streets, and experience the 18th century atmosphere. Take time to se the details of the sculptures and paintings, palaces, gardens...imaging yourself linking in Habsbrug court...is not that dificult im modern Vienna.
