Nice place to sit down with a cup of coffee and Viennese pastry. May be very crowded in the evenings though, so better to plan in advance. Also offers a variety of pastry for takeaway.
The cakes are good, although a year and a half ago they were excellent - probably some of the recipes changed. And still - the place has an enjoyable atmosphere, very efficient service and open till 8 in the evening, unlike many places in Vienna.

We recently had a great breakfast at Konditorei Oberlaa in the Neuer Markt area of Vienna and we enjoyed some good macarons there during another visit.

For breakfast we had a Pikantes Frstk (9.70 euro) that was a large serving of 4 sausage links, 4 rations of very nice bacon, 2 fried eggs, tomato and cucumber slices and a bread roll, served along with apple juice. Everything tasted very good and we'd happily order again (rating 4 of 5).

We also tried an apple strudel (3.50 euro) that was superb, soft, slightly sweet tasting apples and lovely filling. This was just a great strudel, one of the best we've had in a long time (rating 4.5 of 5), would come back specifically to try again. Melange coffee (3.70 euro) was enjoyed with the strudel.

Macrons (90 cents each) sampled here were good. We very much enjoyed the lemon, coffee and hazelnut flavoured macrons but didn't care so much for the pistachio, which had an odd taste or the raspberry flavoured macarons. Overall, these were ok (rating 3 of 5), not as enjoyable or recommendable as the breakfast.

Service was friendly, indoor dining was comfortable, a bit more functional than decorative. Overall, a very good option for those staying near the Neure Markt area.

Many thanks for Konditorei Oberlaa Vienna 1010. Sure you enjoy your Coffee break not only by the delicious sweets and the beautiful vitrain, but of course for the very very helpfull and friendly staff. You get always your Coffee and cake with a very nice smile, and excellent service, client orientated staff. I recomend Coffee OBERLAA as a MUST for every visitor and local people to visit it.
To compair with two other famous and well-known Coffeeshops in Vienna 1 district too, they have very unfriendly face and tauf staff, not time for the visitors where you loose your apetite to have the Coffee by renouncing taking the coffee or ever enter the shop.

Had lunch there several times, since it s very central and enjoys an excellent reputation with the Viennese. And afternoon stop- overs.
Perfect service, with changing menus ( had gnocchi w.truffles once just like another reviewer...!!) busy place at lunch but great for afternoon tea or Viennese chocolate... And don t resist, succumb to the dozens of sweet temptations, from Apfelstrudel to Sacher, or Mohntorte ( poppyseeds and chocolate) Sissitorte and many others... All quite simply irresistile!

This place was recomended by a gluten free blog. It surpassed my very high expectations - there were six (SIX!!!) gluten free cake options (and an extensive array of macaroons which are also gluten-free!), including a to-die-for chocolate mousse cake which I had, a sacher torte and other Viennese specialties. My boyfriend and sister also loved their non- gluten-free cakes. Staff at the Bagenbergerstrabe store very friendly and knowledgable. 9 locations, good coffee and free wifi. :)
