This boutique guest-house was recommended by friends who live in Vienna. Unlike well-known chains, it has a very authentic and warm atmosphere. The website gives you all the info you need and we booked by email. The husband and wife team are very responsive and flexible on booking dates and early check-in and even gave us a discount for a long booking. It was just before Christmas so low season and the hotel was relatively quiet, but you can see how it can come alive in summer with large garden that could be used for outdoor dining and a substantial banquet hall. I imagine many parties and weddings would be taking place here in high season. The service was very friendly but efficient. Gabi runs the logistics and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Her husband cooks breakfast and you can have - boiled egg, fried egg or omelette! buns, cheese and coffee unlimited. Not perhaps a buffet style you normally get, but perfectly adequate and proportionate. The hotel also runs a restaurant, but we didn't try it as we were out a lot and they seemed very quiet. Location wise, we found it very convenient. It is just across the road from a tram stop, which is the terminal for city bound "streetcars". They run every 10 min or so, and it takes about 25-30 min and you are in the heart of downtown Vienna. The tram itself is very modern and quiet, not very crowded at all. If you prefer to stay around for a meal, there are a couple of cafes around (serving the delicious sachen torte!) and hoerigens - a must try when you are in the area. The key selling point it that they actually have some operational vinyards (the only European capital to still have vines within the city boarders) and sell some simple local food and new harvest wine by the carafe. We tried their fare and some white grape beverages... they are fine, honestly, but not your five-star meal and drink. Gives a bit of a local flavour none the less! All in all, it was an authentic Austrian experience, both the accomodation, food, wine and travel to the city. I won't swap it for the hiltons in the city-centre. And in fact, I have already recommended the place to some family members who want to go to Vienna.
