“We loved this setting”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

This restaurant/pub had indoor and outdoor seating. It was bustling and casual - just what our party of 9 likes.

Menu was traditional Austrian cuisine. The ribs were giant order. The beef stroganoff with green spaetzle was very good. And the Greek salad is awesome ... it isn't traditional Greek salad, but we loved it.

Wonderful to read your positive recap, we are glad to have met your expections. Greek salad indeed is a bit different in Salm Braeu, by the years, influence of frequent customers always recognizes in the variations of salads. Lovely Greetings to California, hope so see you again some time in the near future.

“Excellent Authentic Austrian Cuisine!”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

Salm Brau is located by the Belvedere Palace, in a hisoric building which I believe used to serve as the stables of Belvedere in the old days. It's a restaurant and brewery and is very casual and nice, just 5 minute walk from the Ring. It has also outdoor seating. The food is just perfect- my Viener Schnitzel was huge and made to perfection!
They also have a nice selection of beers they brew!
I will be back for sure!

Great to hear about your satisfaction of your visit at Salm Braeu, our cooking is very much home style from our grand parents, considering the small kitchen, it is the only way to do it. We are looking forward to welcome you again, Greetings to New York.

“Great find in Vienna”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

This is a first class pub with great food and it's own first class brewery. Not in an obvious location, but actually very convenient if you have visited the Klimt exhibition at the Belvedere Palace - the Salm establishment is close to the northern exit to the Belvedere gardens. Food is well priced, portions are big and it's all well cooked. Service was helpful and attentive, with the waiters in traditonal costume being a nice touch. Well worth a visit

Nice to hear, you had a great visit at Salm Braeu and our quality did satisfy you. We also appreciate your kind feedback about our traditional service staff costume, by the way, they are real and no fakes. It is called "Dirndl" for the girls and "Lederhose" (=leather pents) for the guys (not only ....:-)) and have been always working clothes on the country side. We are happy you enjoyed a good time at Salm Braeu.

“Good Food and Good Beer”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

Was really busy when we arrived but were able to find a table and got served quickly. We sat in the beer garden which has a great atmosphere and good selection of Austrian food. Can definitely recommend the Wiener Schnitzel! The beer is made on site and tastes great.

“Don't bother”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

Read Tripadvisor and found the above restaurant near our Hotel so on the Sunday evening we found an extremely busy and atmospheric beer garden / courtyard where we were immediately escorted to a shared table( no prob). We ordered our meal and our fellow table guest departed (their plates of ham hock and ribs almost untouched.....) assumed incorrectly that their plates would be cleared...no ! Only removed when we finally paid our bill. In hindsight should have brought waiters attention to this.
My Wienerschnitzel tasted like shoe leather and my partners fish so so.
I believe it is very busy with the locals but it was probably not our day......

We are sorry to hear your commends and appologize for this. Something must have gone wrong totally that night and there are no excuses for the lazy staff responsible for your table. We are also very sorry to hear, that you did not immediately complain the quality of our food. Although everything is freshly cooked and we are currently unable to trace what went wrong, it should never lead to this. UK is not that far from Austria, it would be lovely, if you would give us a second chance, we can do it much better, I do know this :-)
