Description: A Tafelspitz is a Tafelspitz and a Wiener Schnitzel a Wiener Schnitzel. It sounds simple but it is one of the great secrets of the Viennese cuisine: simple, pure, authentic food which tastes just as it should. One more secret: the Viennese cuisine - by the way, the only one named after a city - has always been multi-faceted and open to influences from other countries and regions. Recipes from the Crown Lands Bohemia and Hungary have become adopted into the Austrian cuisine, even as eggplant (Melanzani), sponge fingers (Biskotte) or bouillon, ingredients and dishes derived from the Italian and French cuisine. Adhering to original recipes while accepting new trends - that is, uniting tradition with cosmopolitanism - are the two secrets of the Viennese cuisine, to which the Pfarrwirt feels committed. It is a matter of course that all dishes are prepared with fresh and natural ingredients and that the Pfarrwirt renounces the use of meat from factory farming. Not absolutely necessary, but it nevertheless feels good.

This restaurant is somewhat out of the way however, easily accessible by public transportation. Loved the location, you felt as though in the country side. The food was excellent and the service was prompt. I found that for a higher-end restaurant the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend a visit here. They claim to have been Beethoven's favourite restaurant.

We had heard good things about the restaurant, so took the tram from Schottentor up to Nussdorf and then a short walk to the restaurant. It was a late lunch so the restaurant was not crowded and service was winding down. The room was very pleasant, the food excellent, the service quite good. And of course there was an excellent selection of local wine. All in all one of our better meals in Vienna.

As a side note, after lunch we walked up the hill, through the vineyards and down to the tiny village of Kahlenbergerdorf. We then caught a bus back to Nussdorf and then the tram into Vienna. A very peaceful and scenic hike.

Not easy to get to - but worthwhile! We were there with 20 people during an exhibition in Vienna and they prepared an excellent menue for us: great appetizers, varieties of main courses and an excellent Viennese desert. Their own wines (Gruener Veltliner (white), Zweigelt (red)) are very good and easy to drink. This Heurigen has the regular local food to be found in these places, but also top-class cuisine. And a very special ambience.

Note, this is the restaurant and note the heuriger located just next door. Came mid-afternoon so there was no crowd, but a number of tables with folk having a slow lazy lunch and drinks. Atmosphere was relaxed and 5 of us sat at a huge square table for 8 persons. We had sausages, and chicken cutlet and beef steak. This property is also a vineyard with sales at the door, so upon request, a wine list was provided. The wife and I requested for a tasting of some of their wines, which was brought in glasses to the table. Food was good, service was a little slow but adequate, and a great atmosphere under the trees.

My wife and I dined here a couple of weeks ago with friends of ours. We were fortunate enough to have good weather so we were able to dine outdoors. The staff at hand were very helpful and they provided English menus for our table and also took great pains to explain the different dishes. As a starter I opted for the Chicken Ravioli with a slightly creamy sauce with white asparagus. This was delicous however the fish with a saffron sauce which I took for seconds was even better. I did not have a desert however I did opt for the cheese platter which I shared and every single cheese I tasted was exceptional - in particular the Goats cheese.
The wine list is quite vast, however the sommelier made a few suggestions which we were happy to follow.
