“Good hotel in a convenient location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013

We had 3 nights here in May as part of a group tour by rail.
Modern hotel with most facilities.Good location near to the tram station serving all of Vienna.
Breakfasts were good but didn't think the dinner was special-the service at dinner was a bit slow but the staff were pleasant enough.

Dear guest,

thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay.

Whilst I am pleased that you seemed to have enjoyed your overall experience, I am of course disappointed that on this occasion the service during dinner, did not meet your expectations.
Please be assured that I have addressed this matter with the relevant departmental manager, who will take the appropriate action.

I would be very happy to welcoming you back to Vienna some time in the near future.

Kind regards,

The price was about 60 eur per night for a modern spacious room with free wi fi, various breakfast, free parking. It takes 15 minutes to get to the center by tram, the stop is 3 min walk from the hotel.

I've spent 3 nights in this hotel and it was really great choice. We bookend all inclusive offer with parking, wi-fi and breakfast included in the price. This offer is worth the money. The hotel deserves its 4 stars, rooms are very clean, modern. The hotel is very close to the subway - just 3 minutes walk. When you go outside the hotel turn right and the station is just few steps away (close to cementary). I reccomend you to buy tickets for public transport in the hotel (we had Vienna card for 3 days). The location is very convenient, you can reach the centre of the City very fast.
(there are also trams).
And breakfast is fantastic!

Room Tip: all the rooms I saw look very similar (the same style)

This was my second visit to Rainers, situated at Gudrunstrasse./Matzleinsdorferplatz. This (the station) has recently become the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) for Vienna, replacing the old Sud- and West-Bahnhof. Large, comfortable: perhaps a little impersonal (the hotel, not the station!): but it ticks all the boxes for me. The Hauptbahnhof notwithstanding, the quickest way to town (Stephansplatz) is to exit the hotel, cross Gudrunstrasse heading left, and take the 14A bus three stops to Keplerplatz, from where the U1 will drop you at Stephansplatz in 10 minutes.I remain a fervent fan of hotels a little out of the central buzz, especially in Vienna, even more so if it's as quick as this. It's not a hotel that's huge on 'character' or 'tradition' ( how could it be? It's only 4 years old) - but if you think that a hotel is where you sleep in between having fun, then look no further. Friendly staff, very comfortable rooms, nice (if expensive!) bar: hang your hat here: but nightowls beware: the bar tends to shut at midnight, or earlier if there's no-one around.

We visited for overnight in 2013. Looks comletly new. It is an ex hospital, so outised is looking very dull and unatractive, but inside very modern, beautifull and very clean. The staff is frendly helpful and profesional. Breakfast was very rich and tastefull. We got it at low rate but the service was excelent. Recomend it for people who dont mind out of center location, don+t care for outside apperance.

It is close to Matzleinsdorfer platz station (500m) - with train and tram conections (line 1 connests you to the metro at Karlsplatz station-10 minutes) . I reccomend buing a daily metro ticket for all public tranport sistems (metro, tram and train) - 6 €. However you will need a taxi if you are out after midnight - but the one we had was not very expensive compered to other cities. For center to hotel 15€ (copared to Lyon it is very littlle).

Lot's of parking at the hotel - 16€per day.

I'd take my family there too.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and the accomidations were great. Breakfast was great, since there is no where else to eat in the area for breakfast. The gym is whimpy but it was efficient. They are located right next to a market, several blocks from the metro, if you like to walk it's not a bad walk. Several Metro stops to Stephenplatz, City Center.

Room Tip: Make sure you get an executive suite.

Just back from spending 3 nights in Rainers Hotel and very happy with the overall experience. After reading some of the reviews on here, I was a bit concerned about the location but I needn't have worried, the location and proximitely to the centre of Vienna, in my opinion, is fine. Its about a 3 minute walk to get the tram and a further 5/10 minutes on the tram to get to Karlsplatz, from where most of the sights are reachable.
The rooms in the hotel are very clean, confortable, modern and reasonably sized, with tea and coffee making facilities available. No free wifi available in the rooms which is a slight negative but wifi is available for free on 2 Mac machines in reception.
In summery, if its a 4 star hotel for a 2 star price you're lookng for, I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room near an elevator, the corridors are very long in this hotel!
