Who would think pumpkin soup could be amazing? But it was, on their summer special menu and made with curry . Easily in the top couple best soups I've ever had. Everything else was also very good as was the service.

Another visit to one of our favorite cafe, this time for a light lunch. We took 2 of the menus of the day with some beverages and we did not got disappointed. All servings was tasty and the service was fast and professional. In my opinion is a good choice for a coffee or a quick meal, although the prices are a little above average. You must visit the high tech toilets !! :)

The Cafe Diglas on Wollzeille str was recommended to us by an Austrian friend as the best place in Vienna to eat Wienerschnitzel. We weren't disappointed. One portion of veal schnitzel might be €10 more than the pork or chicken but it's well worth it. One portion can easily be shared by two. The cafe also has menu's for under €20 and they are excellent value. I went for the stuffed pork and cake two course. The pork was delicious and perfectly cooked, the portion adequate to satisfy North Americans. The cake, you go up to the counter and choose from the display. It's extensive and colorful and very difficult to select one. One slice is can satisfy two mouths.
The Cafe Diglas retains it's charm and authenticity. It's both relaxing and subdued. Piano music is played in the evenings. It's great for romance, casual meetings, reading and thinking.
Service was excellent and our waiters spoke excellent English. Prices for food and drink are very reasonable.

Food good, atmosphere good too especially in the evenings with the piano player. This was a return visit after a number of years and it didn't let us down.

Note that this review is for Diglas on Wollzeile - the photo on this TA page is of Cafe Diglas on Fleischmarkt which is potentially confusing and should probably be corrected.

We actually visited this cafe 3 times; for lunch on the day we arrived in Vienna, for a glass of wine the next evening because our restaurant table wasn't ready and for lunch on the last day of our 4-day trip. Each time we found the staff gravely courteous, the atmosphere lovely and the food good if not great.

It didn't set the world on fire, but it's only a cafe and we liked it. If for no other reason, visit for the amazing high-tech toilets, they're a real treat!
