Fabulous local pub with super friendly waitress. We felt very welcome here. Had the beef soup with pancakes - awesome beef broth, pancakes were like soggy pasta so just left them at the bottom of the bowl. I had the boiled beef which was delicious, husband had the pork joint which was very tasty - as long you like food with your salt! Also had the fennel as a side (it was a vege main) but that wasn't that fantastic. Plus a lemonade-style local non alcoholic drink and a medium beer, total ?42. But full of locals and authentic local food which is all we really look for while travelling.

Warning - cash only!! And they didn't have much change. They directed us to an ATM across the road.

This is a little "hole in the wall" type restaurant that I am glad we dropped into. This is obviously a restaurant frequented by the locals that does not really cater to tourists-- so it was a great way to get some "real" Viennese food.

The menus were handwritten in German (and after a bit of looking our server managed to find one in English), but it didn't matter as we talked with our waitress and she was able to recommend a few dishes that we went with and really liked.

The interior of the restaurant could use a bit of work as it is dated and a bit threadbare, but, honestly, that just adds to the atmosphere of the place. Like I said, they don't pretend to cater to tourists here, I'm fairly certain we were the only ones the night we went.

The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. Our waitress was ridiculously nice and helpful even though it was clear that she was super busy. With all of the people in the restaurant, the service was a bit slow, but I didn't mind, it was nice to unwind and chat.

Overall I'd recommend dropping into this restaurant if you are in the area. It's just nice to get off of the tourist map sometimes and get some legitimately local food.

Came here after doing some research before my trip (tripadvisor etc). Went in with my wife on Friday night (first night in Vienna) and had a great time. Our waitress was very welcoming and took the time to walk us through the menu (our German isn't very strong) and helped us pick a few great apps and main courses. She was extremely pleasant and one of the friendliest we had during our stay in Vienna.

We had soup, sweetbread, braised beef and a meatball dish, all plates were cleaned by the end of the meal. It was pretty busy with people coming in and out all night but we had our table for the entire night, never felt rushed. The food was very well cooked and presented well. Ingredients were fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The space itself has a cozy atmosphere with dark wood tables, dim lighting and candles at each table. They also have a small garden and non-smoking section in the back.

We both would strongly recommend the place if you happen to be visiting in Vienna. You will not be disappointed.

Where to begin..... firstly, my sister SMELT this restaurant from the street on the day we arrived. 24 hrs later we were eating there. Simply, it was wonderful. Each dish we had (from sweatbreads to palashinken) was full of flavour and worth the short wait whilst it was all obviously cooked fresh. I think that the chef, Clemens, has a great knowledge and gift with sauces - we licked our plates clean. :-) Our waitress (sadly didn't get her name) was like a breath of fresh air - not only did she have a face full of smiles, but she knew where their beef came from and what was in each dish.
A truly delightful evening - thankyou

Based on several suggestions, decided to check this place out and so glad that we did. We made a reservation for a non-smoking table which was ours for the night! We enjoyed a leisurely meal that was one of the best of an 11 day trip throughout Europe. Despite only having 1 waitress, the service was quick and pleasant and she gave great suggestions. I will be thinking about this meal for a long time. YUM!
