Where to begin..... firstly, my sister SMELT this restaurant from the street on the day we arrived. 24 hrs later we were eating there. Simply, it was wonderful. Each dish we had (from sweatbreads to palashinken) was full of flavour and worth the short wait whilst it was all obviously cooked fresh. I think that the chef, Clemens, has a great knowledge and gift with sauces - we licked our plates clean. :-) Our waitress (sadly didn't get her name) was like a breath of fresh air - not only did she have a face full of smiles, but she knew where their beef came from and what was in each dish.
A truly delightful evening - thankyou

Based on several suggestions, decided to check this place out and so glad that we did. We made a reservation for a non-smoking table which was ours for the night! We enjoyed a leisurely meal that was one of the best of an 11 day trip throughout Europe. Despite only having 1 waitress, the service was quick and pleasant and she gave great suggestions. I will be thinking about this meal for a long time. YUM!

The place itself is not one of the most beautiful restaurants in vienna, but it is really cozy and people are very nice to you. Apart from that, the food is delicious and it is really cheap... It's location is also great! I would recomend and go back!

Booked a table here on our first night in Vienna. Tucked away, walking in the door here feels almost like a secret wartime drinking den but the size of the place is deceptive - it goes back a long way and there are a lot of tables in here. That said, it pays to book as this place is very, very popular with locals.

It's not hard to see why.

Food is authentic Austrian cuisine through and through - perfectly cooked and warming on those winter nights in Vienna. The service was excellent throughout - even though it appeared to be only one waitress and one barmaid on the entire time we were there. We struggled a little with the menus in German, but our waitress patiently explained everything to us when we asked in spite of being hurried.

If you are expecting some five star decadence and silver service, as it appears some reviewers were, then this is certainly not the place. If, however, you are looking for a place with very real character, old fashioned decor and an atmosphere you'd expect from a film noir, with brilliant food to boot, then make sure you seek out Wratschko.

Beware that some areas at the front of the restaurant still allow smoking but further back there are non-smoking areas and it didn't bother either of us at all.

I went there several times. They serve nice meals from Viennese cuisine. Ambiance is very warm. Specially when I have a guest from abroad, I prefer here as it seems pretty local and has its own style. For non-smokers it might be little bit disturbing. They have non-smoker part however it is at back side which is darker than front. They dont have english menu but staff is very helpful.
