“Complascent?”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

Recommended in Lonely Planet and at least half the guests (including embarassingly us) had the book on display. Probably grown rather complascent on the back of that. Lamb rather over cooked, service aloof, nice dessert though.

“Great Little Restaurant”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

Felt like a local restaurant although located in the Innere Stadt - couple of other tourists but most of the clientele was Viennese out enjoying a meal. Classic Viennese fare - I had the Schnitzel which was excellent. Would definitely go back

“Good Lamb Sausages but Orrible Braised”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

Classical Beisel, still retains its old furniture. I had as appetizer lamb sausages served with a salad of cabbage and bacon, accompanied by good mustard, I have appreciated. As main course I had Braised with vegetable and potato croquettes, uneatable tough meat, sour sauce. 3 balls just for the sausages. With half liter of good Riesling bill was 29,70

“Very traditional, but very smokey.”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

This is a very small restaurant, with a bar up front. The food was very good, service was OK. We had the special, which was hearty (luckily it was a cold evening) and tasty and quite reasonable. Our only complaint is that the whole place was so smokey that our clothes smelled of cigarette smoke for several days.

“Traditional Cuisine with genuine atmosphere”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

When in Vienna this is a place to enjoy as it is truly something that has been well kept. The interior and the behaviour of the staff together with the food is what makes this place special.
Yes, it can sometimes be busy, you might have to wait and it is worth it.
