Spur of the moment decision when walking about the centre. Had thought I'd left everything all too late to see some opera. Paid some chap in full operatic regalia 42Eu and thought I'd probably been conned when going home to change. The guy said it was casual, but just seemed wrong to me, so in typically English fashion I put on my best bib and tucker and returned for the first evening session. (the last was sold out). I was the only guy in any semblance of formal dress, though a number of ladies in the expensive seats had turned out very nicely. Mozart & Strauss with an eight piece ensemble, a soprano, a tenor and two graceful dancers in a compact but enchanting Palais. Tourist trap or not, mesmerising, magical and delightful.

“mesmerizing performance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013

This is a very intimate auditorium, about 10 rows of seats. The orchestra consisted of 11 performers, including a pianist, 5 strings and 5 woodwinds. Because there was no need for electronic amplification, you could hear the pure sounds of expertly played instruments.

I was sitting on the first row, and saw the performers, which also included a couple dancers and 2 singers, who were all very entertaining and full of emotion.

I have attended many world class orchestral performances, and I enjoyed this the most due to the fact that I was sitting right there, just like a king in the old days would in their own court.

I paid 98 euros as an excursion offered by Trafalgar tours in June 2013.

“A wonderful evening”

Granted the room was a bit cramped and the chairs were uncomfortable, but the performances were extraordinary. Wonderful dancing and singing. The concert meister was a tremendous showman. There was nothing but praise from our crowd.

Was not so long, which was good for a family going with kids. Very entertaining.timing was good early evening at 6:30. There is a kids park 30 meters away in case kids got bored during the show.

This show is okay. Lightweight. B grade musicians, but B grade in Vienna is still pretty good. You come here for a taste of classical music which they serve to you with a bit of opera singing and dance. Lacks the intimate and passion of Konzerte Mozarthaus which I rated highly. You can do better if you do a bit of homework!
