Quick decision on saturday evening. Made reservation by phone - kind 'kein Problem'! Arrived and even the whole stuff was in Seebühne Carmen-stress - we got a really nice table with lake and stage view. Dont expect british kindness - this is an Austrian Wirtshaus on a great level. Traditional Schnitzel and daily starters can be highly recommended. If you prefer a wine instead of a classic beer, have a look at the wine menu, that offers some nice wines for a good time

Thank cjsie

We booked our table for 18:00 few months ago. And we choose complete menu (part of restaurant was working like a'la carte and other part only prepared for dinner with the same menu). Our plan was to eat and make a little walk before Opera.
We arrived at 17:45, got our nice table and drinks and even cold starters in time. Soup we were waiting a bit longer but our main dishes we got after two hours of waiting and lot of remarks to waiter. I could understand such a waiting time in a'la carte and high Cousine place but we got easy Austrian food, not bad but nothing special at all.
Terrine without taste and a bit of green salat (good dressing), as a starter, bouillon with pancakes, two big slices of meat (no taste, strange souse with buckwheat), nice Rosmarin potato and some boiled vegetables (pretend to be "grilled Mediterranean gemüse"). Strange cream with dry cookies and blueberries as tiramisu. Coffee
and choose of wine was very good. Views are also good if you seat by lake.
But we were very disappointed.

Wirtshaus am See is a restaurant located on the promenade of Bregenz, a city located close to the Bodensee, and near the border with Germany and Switzerland. The restaurant has a big terrace, where it is possible to dinner and lunch in summer. It is fantastic. Also it is near the Seebühne and you can see it. It is awesome!
Here I came to dinner with my family and one friend and I ate marinated salmon meat with french frittes. Also we drank a white wine (Grüner Veltliner). All was very good.
Really, a very good place to come in summer.

Food, service, staff, venue - 10/10 all round. What a wonderful experience! We were a very diverse group of over 30 people (Indian, Arab, British and Austrian) and this place managed to satisfy everyone, a real challenge easily overcome! The menu offers sufficient choices of starters, mains and deserts (some local, others 'European'. The location is alongside Lake Constance within view of the Bregenz Festspiele (a stage built on the lake). The restaurant was completely full and yet the service could not have been better - the waiter's smile said it all. Bravo Wirthaus am See, we will be back.

We were in Bregenz with friends who were celebrating their wedding anniversary. They had been married on s ship in the lake 15 years earlier. As is our tradition, my wife and I shared a traditional Austrian dish, Kassespaetzle. Spaetzle is a Germanic traditional pasta. The dish was super chocked with kasse or cheese and topped with caramelized onions. It was served in a round wooden dish which kept the pasta warm throughout the meal. We also had a lovely side salad with local greens. You order the mac & cheese dish by the number of people you want to serve. It can be ordered as a main or a side dish. It is likely to be the most expensive pasta and cheese dish you'll ever eat, but worth the experience.

The wait staff were responsive and spoke English well. There were menus in English too.

Summertime I recommend lake-view outdoor seating. Nice views of the Bodensee, passersby and the adjacent Seebühne, an outdoor amphitheater that hosts concerts and operas.
