went to this little place in Austria last December, lovely little town, we stayed in a Pension, which was basic but ok, the food was wholesome and cooked fresh every day, though being a veggie was a bit of a challenge for me to eat! The chalet girls and guys were lovely, and very helpful and concerned as I had to go to the hospital while i was there they ferried me around with no hesitation! My first time skiing and the first ski instructor was awful! But the second one i had was great!! All in all it was a good week, I found the skiing better at the other end of town rather than "up the hill"...only downside for me was the fact that smoking was allowed in bars etc....

“ski holiday Kitzbuhel”
Reviewed March 8, 2008

We went to Kitzbuhel in January 2008. The resort was lovely with 2 main pedestrian only streets and really nice shops.
The snow was good but was mainly artificial in the Hahnenkahmbahn side, but they have got the 3S gondola which takes you to the other side of the mountain. This side has got lovely wide runs and plenty of snow.
The only down side was the ski school staff, we went to the red Devils, (Rudi Sailer’s Rote Teufel school) as this was the school suggested by Thompson. They were pretty arrogant and the group lessons were big even though they promise a max of 12 people, in my lesson we were16!!!
The other advice that we can give you its do not book your school tickets with the rep form your travel agency as they get the commission and if you want to change you can lose lots of euros, we lost almost a 100 euros each in a attempt to change our group lesson ticket.,
Overall a good place to have a ski holiday but do not bother with the red devils unless you want to pay a private lesson for 200 euros.

“Hahnenkan Downhill Ski Races”
Reviewed February 1, 2006

Every year - usually the third weekend in January - Kitzbühel stages the world famous Hahnekam Downhill Ski Races.

The downhill course, known as "Die Streif", is breathtaking and has a reputation of being THE downhill race of the World Cup season. It is always staged on the Saturday.

The weekend also stages the Super G on Friday, and slalom races on Sunday. The latter also counts in combination with the downhill for a prestigous combined prize.

“ski holiday in kitzbuhel”
Reviewed April 16, 2005

we spent the first week in march in kitzbuhel this year . compared to the purpose built concrete wastelands of the french alps the resort which is actually a medeiaval walled town dating back 900 years , was absolutely beautiful .
as experienced skiers we found the skiing on and off piste both challenging and enjoyable . Our hotel , the Tirol run by nielsons was fantastic being close to both the hahnenkahm and the kitzbuheler horn gondolas as well as the town centre .
nightlife was varied and abundant but we were particularly impressed with a bar restaurant called Brass Monkeys which is english owned and run . the food and drinks were first class and reasonably priced and the atmosphere and music were great without being too much .
i would recommend kitzbuhel to anyone and if you make it to brass monkeys say hi to chipper or stu who will invariably give you a complimentary welcome schnapps .

“Wonderful two weeks in Kitzbuhel”
Reviewed August 2, 2004

My wife and I have recently returned from a wonderful holiday in the lovely city of Kitzbuhel which has so much to offer. Although it rained a lot there was plenty to do and interesting places to go when it was wet. The mountains all around provided grand walks. We stayed at the Hasselsburger which we found very friendly with good food and comfortable bedrooms. We did not agree that we were 'born to be in Kitzbuhel 8 to 11 July' but then we do not have a Harley Davidson. We plan to go to this lovely place again later this year.
