We stayed here and had an excellent time. The food (half board) was superb and four star quality - their chief is an expert and his dishes are works of art. The 24 hr reception was not manned but left a note with an internal telephone connection. They were then quite prompt in attending the reception once you had phoned them.
The room was a twin which had been sold to us as a small twin room but it was nothing of the sort. It was a moderately sized twin room with a further room with a small sofa, table, TV, balcony and facilities. The room was quite clean and they made sure the facilities were spotless every day.
It is about a 10 min walk to the lift station, a local railway station and the centre of the town. The drawback to the hotel may be in the winter (but this did not affect us) and it is getting to & from the ski lifts. They are too far to walk in ski boots so motorised transport to the lifts is a must.
All the staff were very helpful and tried their English with us. They gave us advice about where & when to go places, how to plan our outings, when would be good days for the mountains etc. We went walking a lot and their friendly advice was to be respected.

I agree with several other reviewers here. There appears to be an apartheid system working at this hotel. German speakers are treated well - others are treated extremely ignorantly.

It is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. Reception is very rarely open. On our arrival we had to find somebody upstairs who could show us to our room.

We changed rooms the following day, as we had asked for a twin, but were given a double sleigh type bed.

The new room was large. Hwever, it was extremely dusty. I wrote my name on all hard surfaces! Toilet paper was a problem. There is a phone in the room - but no numbers on it to call any service. So I had to ask in the bar - twice - for toilet paper. Naturally, it was not forthcoming - and I had to get some int he ladies toilet. Dirty glasses in our room or empty bottles were never removed. I did that myself.

We asked repeatedly for the safe to be repaired as it was not working. It was never repaired. I stored my valuables under the bed - safe in the knowledge that that area was unlikely to be cleaned!

We went for a skiing holiday. Noramlly one gets some tea/coffee, even cakes on return in the afternoon. Forget it - the whole atmosphere was so unwelcoming I did not even dare to try to order anything at the bar. In the evening, the owner sat at the bar, smoking a cigarette from a holder, but would not take any orders, so guests had to wait for up to 15 minutes to get a drink!

The owners were like two Basils from Fawlty Towers - grumpy, arrogant and unfriendly. Try to ask directions to get back to the htoel - forget it. We were told there was a shuttle service to and from the hotel for skiing. Nope - they would pay for your taxi in the morning, but you had to find your own way home in the evening. By the way, I used to have to ask the waitresses or even the kitchen staff to get the taxi in the morning as there was nobody else around. They said take a taxi in the evening and pay for it yourself. Then we found there was a shorcut walk back to the hotel - which they bizarrely did not tell us about. Why not?

The food was ok - but one evening there appeared to be a major problem in the kitchen - all staff disappeared for about half an hour - no idea why - all the guests just sat there looking at each other. As regards main courses, there were only two cloices - sometimes one of them would be something like spaghetti carbonara - not great.

Breakfast was good, but things like eggs not volunteered. We had to ask on day two and found such things were available!

All in all the worst so called 4 star I have ever stayed in.

The hotel is about 10 mins walk out of town but the trade off for this is a lovely view over the town.
The rooms were excellent. We were a party of 7 and all had large and immaculately clean rooms, most with lovely views.
The food was also superb. Choice is limited to two main courses but both were always excellent and interesting.
Other facilities including the steam rooms etc were also excellent and well kept. Beware the nuclear powered Sauna!
Staff were very friendly and helpful and the owners were polite if a little reserved. We were apparently the only English party in the hotel all winter and this meant that the whole place had a very Austrian feel about it. In summary - Excellent

On arrival to the hotel, for one week skiing, we were told that we had to vacate our Junior Suite to a Double Room half way through our stay because the hotel had over booked!! It was regulars who had requested our room and the hotel did not want to upset them, yet by doing so, enraged us.

On the Thursday, a note was left in our rooms, telling us that a "carnival" was to take place the night after and that music would be playing, until 5am or so, and that they did not accept any complaints in relation to this!! We were never advised of any carnival when making the booking. We were so angry knowing that we'd be loosing a nights sleep that we ended up cutting our holiday short and left the resort.

One night we arrived back to the hotel around 1am to find that we were locked out of the hotel. We had to wake the owners from their private residence, to gain access to the hotel. We were met with both a barrage of scorn and anger even though we were never told that the hotel would be locked at any hour.

The owners are desperately unfriendly and make you feel so unwelcome. I am not sure if this is because we were not Austrian's, or what, but never have I felt so uncomfortable by owners of a hotel. Never a hello, or anything from them. One day the owner jumped into our taxi and we gave him a lift to the village, not a thank you, hello, nothing from him.

The staff themselves were lovely.

The only interest that the proprietors of this so called 4 Star establishment had is your Euro.

All in all, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. For any 4 Star Hotel to have over booked, make you move rooms (and they physically packed up all our belongings while we were out skiing!!!), and tell you that music will be blaring so you'll miss a nights sleep but tough luck.......... is nothing but a shear joke!!

I am not usually one to complain but Hotel Hahenhoff really took the biscuit!! It ruined our holiday!!

Several of us were booked into this hotel. On first impressions it seemed lovely. However they moved our belongings (without permission) to a different, much much smaller room because one of the locals needed a room for a friend!! Our room had been booked for over 6 months! And then two days later we get a note explaining that there will be a loud party, they will not accept any complaints and we can leave early if we wish. We have no objections to loud parties but some common politness would have been nice! And as this party had obviously been planned for a few months could they not have told us when we booked the room or when we checked in? And when we went to reception to investigate, all of a sudden they couldn't speak any English, which had not been an issue when we checked in! My reccomendation, if you're going to Kitzbuhel is to stay at the Pension Enstsrasser, we had lots of friends staying there and they all loved it!

The Hahnenhof was wonderful. Our room (a junior suite) was beautiful. Had a wonderful bed, wonderful views. Breakfast was excellent. Very nice sauna. It's a short walk to town but a very pretty and easy one. We would definitely stay here again.
