Aurach Hotel
Ranked #30 of 48 Hotels in Kitzbuhel

We stayed in the hotel Aurach 2 years ago and absolutely loved it so decided to take friends back this year. As it was their first time skiing hotel Aurach was a good choice as its good value for money. The Manager is just fantastic he really makes you feel so welcome and is always about for a game of cards. There was a lot of Irish and English so the craic was fantastic every night around the fire. What we have discovered in Austria is the higher the star the lower the craic so 3 star was perfect. The hotel is a 3 star but by no means does this fault it in anyway. The rooms are spotless and I looked forward to my dinner every night. My only complaint is the ski bus finishes at 5 so we missed it every night because of Après Ski but it was worth it!!! When getting a taxi always haggle. Kitzbuhel itself has to be seen absolutely beautiful place and good fun watching all those stinking rich people including Whams Andrew Ridgley. Anyway don’t hesitate in booking a holiday to Kitzbuhel staying in hotel Aurach all I can say is I’m jealous. x

We stayed here for a week of ski ing and walking. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the food good and the owners were very helpful. The owner likes everyone down to dinner at the same time, which is a good idea because you know that the food has not been standing round for a long time. The hotel is quite well situated for walking and in the summer it is not too far from a golf course. It also has a sauna and table tennis. It is about 10 minutes from the ski lifts by bus which stops about 300 mtrs down the road. This is a long way to walk in ski boots and carrying equipment, but you are able to hire lockers in Kitzbuhel, albeit a hefty 40 euros each, but we managed to squeeze 5 pairs of boots and skis into 3 lockers so not too bad! The hotel is not near any nightlife, which may not do for younger people, and you would need a taxi at night to go into Kitzbuhel itself, but it has a very pleasant lounge with games and jigsaws to choose from to pass the time. It is quite near the main road up the valley, but the traffic noise is not intrusive. Overall we enjoyed our stay there.

As we got such a great deal for this holiday, we arrived at the hotel not knowing exactly what to expect:-
Once we arrived all of our expectations were exceeded, the hospitality of Andreas and the staff is excellent, the hotel is immaculately clean and tidy and comfortable as well. We enjoyed all of the meals that were provided for us, and the choice of food was good.
We were always kept informed of any problems with the lifts etc and Andreas was always able to offer advice about the best places to go etc.
The hotel is slightly out of kitzbuhel itself, but the ski bus in the morning is very good, it will mean having to spend a little on taxis in the evenings though, but they are everywhere so its easy enough.
The atmosphere in the hotel was brilliant and we met some great people on holiday, it feels really welcoming having a drink by a huge open fire.
We really enjoyed ourselves and wanted to thank Hotel Aurach for a really special holiday.

The location of the hotel is slightly out of Kitzbuhel about 10 minutes by bus which is free with your ski pass or around 12 Euros by taxi but be careful with taxi driver inflating the price we took a taxi from hotel to town one night and the meter was on and it only cost us just over 10 Euros. Bus stop is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
We have a balcony facing the main road. The room itself is clean and tidy but make sure you pack your toiletries as they only provide hand soaps. Have to laugh at the beds, it makes loud squeaky noise even you just sit down on it! Plus beware that noise do travel very easily in between the rooms.
There is a lounge with a lovely open fire where you can sit around and share you ski stores after dinner and there are plenty of board games; jenga was the favourite while we were there. There is also a sauna but had forgotten to take my bikini so never got to use it. In the basement there is a ping pong table, pool table and a darts machine but the room can be a little cold.
Breakfast is served between 0730 to 1000 everyday. There is a good selection of bread, ham, cereal, jam, plain yogurt and a varieties of different teas. With an extra charge you can also order scrambled eggs €3, boil, poach or a fried egg for €1. But the fruit bowl looks like it has been there since last year. In the evening it is a 3 course dinner with a choice of 2 mains and a vegetarian option, and you had to select the night before. The food is very basic and for me it was a little too salty and very lack of vegetables, but it was acceptable for the price we paid for.
There is a store room for ski boots and equipment but there are lockers for hire at the Hahnenkamm Bahn. €40 per week which can hold ski boots and equipment for two; the locker is unlocked with the use of ski card so there is no need for extra keys. This brings pleasure not having to take the equipment on and off the bus everyday and no need to wear ski boots while après ski!!
There is a small shop and bank across the road from the bus stop where you can stock up on drinks and snacks for the room.
It was the 69th International Hahnenkamm World Cup Super-G race while we were there and it was a great atmosphere. We were told to be prepared that bars and restaurants would cost more than usual but it wasn’t too bad €4.50 for a Glühwein which include €1 deposit for the plastic cup. Unfortunately though it rained for the rest of the evening so we decided to stay in.

We had all the weather while we were on holiday. It snowed really heavy and was foggy one day that we decided not to ski and instead spend the day in town looking around the shops. There are loads of shops there and a few nice bars, went to the Londoner once but why would you go to a bar full of British people while you are on holiday and sing along to “Who the feck is Alice”.
We asked a few locals to recommend a nice place for dinner and Hotel Kitzhof had been highly recommended. I can understand why; the Austrian skiing team was also staying there. The hotel is in a boutique style with a lovely bar lounge area. There is a classic evening menu with choice of every course for only €36, it was the best meal I had while in Kitzbuhel.

The Hotel Aurach is very clean, the staff friendly and helpful. There's a lovely room with a roaring log fires and plenty of games (connect 4, jenga etc) for people to enjoy after a long day's skiiing.

The drinks at dinner were a little expensive, £9 for 2 bottles water and the food was a little basic. Breakfast buffet was good but in the evenings you had 2 choices for the main course, fixed starter and dessert, not really the highest quality.

The location is a little way out of the main resort but represented really good value for money.
