We stayed in this hotel from the 8th feb for a week. we went with crystal ski and was expecting a very standard room. We were wrong, room was called a Walde room, had been refurbished with a balcony and wet room, room was 32 square metres with a sitting area, very like a junior suite. Breakfast was lovely, with a vast choice of food, and the option of freshly made omelettes, eggs to your liking and cooked breakfasts, fresh fruits and homemade breads, we didn't want to leave. The rooftop pool was amazing although too cool for me to go in!, The spa area and indoor pool was beautiful, clean and well done. We both had massages and the service was excellent. we will be going again. only negative was no WIFI in the rooms, but a cable was provided for my laptop. otherwise faultless stay.

Room Tip: third floor rooms were quiet, we did hear someone complaint about the noise from the piano in the ba...

Just returned from a weeks ski trip and can only lavish praise on this hotel. We chose to upgrade to a superior room and have no way of comparing it to a standard, however suffice to say the room was a delight.. Beautifully appointed with a lovely bathroom which included a bath and separate shower.
The food was a excellent... Every meal was a gastronomic pleasure... The wine was expensive, but I won't mark the hotel down on such a detail
The bar was fun every night, always busy, but never overcrowded...and the piano player was very entertaining
The location is good. All in all, a great hotel

On a drive from Vienna to Switzerland my husband and I stopped in Kitzbuhel and found a great place at the Schwarzer Adler. Loved the hotel, found the staff very helpful and accommodating (umbrella to ward off the rain). Our room was comfortable, great bed, balcony with view of the Wilder Kaiser, updated bathroom. The spa and pool were great - rooftop pool was closed due to the weather. Great find, we will make a point of staying there whenever we are in the area.

Room Tip: Tired of driving from Vienna to Switzerland, we stopped at the Hotel Schwarzer Adler and were totall...

We stayed for two weeks recently so feel we have a good take on this hotel - this is a lovely friendly hotel - giving excellent service and with a nice spa - great points are the roof pool with stunning views - the food was the best we have experienced on holiday - we had two rooms over our stay as we upgraded so we could have a bath. Both rooms were lovely and we never experienced a noise problem. We would certainly recommend this hotel. Kitzbuhel has a lot to offer and is a great base for the moutains and has plenty of walks from the hotel.

This centrally located hotel in Kitzbuhel has a variety of rooms, some have balconies but tend to be older and the bathrooms are in need of an upgrade. Other rooms have been refurbished in a contemporary style and are delightful, however these modernised rooms tend not to have a balcony. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food was outstanding. i have never seen such a varied salad buffet table - with at least 30 different items to choose from every night. Breakfasts were equally as good. Nothing was too much trouble for the dedicated team of staff and after all it is the staff that make this place a hotel.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a balcony request a room on the second floor. If you want contemporary and s...

This was our second visit to the Schwarzer Adler during the past year, such was our positive first experience at this hotel. All the staff are very friendly and helpful from the reception, dining room to the cleaning staff. Towels and bedlinen were refreshed daily, and the en suite bedroom was kept very clean.
The choice of fresh fruit, cheeses, cold meats and ‘home cooked’ breads at breakfast would be very difficult to improve upon. The 5 course evening meal was of a high standard and included a salad bar.- We could have managed with fewer courses, and a variation of the salad bar each day would make evening meals more interesting during a long visit.
We have stayed at many 4 star hotels in Switzerland and Austria, and this hotel ranks amongst the best of them. The spa facilities were very good, the hotel having a large heated indoor pool on the lower ground floor, and a large outside pool on the roof which is maintained at a lower temperature.
A good daily packed lunch was willingly supplied if requested. Otherwise the location of the hotel is perfect being just beyond the town’s pedestrian area. Many local buses stopped immediately to the rear of the hotel, and the nearest train station and gondola were only 7-10 minutes walk from the hotel.
If you sleep liking to leave your windows open at night there can be a problem with early morning noise from delivery lorries delivering to the hotel and to a nearby shop.
Kitzbuhel itself has much character and the ‘summer card’ we purchased allowed the use of 29 gondolas etc., plus local buses throughout the area. This card was good value, although it was quite difficult to reach many gondolas owing to the postbuses running infrequently and sometimes not easily connecting with other postbuses in the area which were required to reach many of the gondolas. Quiet villages in the area such as Ellmau, Kirkberg, Westendorf, and Soll are well worth visiting as part of a walking holiday.

If you like to laze by a swimming pool, this hotel had a very good one on top of it. It would appeal to people who like to sunbathe and dip without too much exercise. The staff were very good and friendly and the rooms were very good. If you have a room at the front of the hotel, there is no balcony like the ones at the side and you do get the noise of the traffic and revellers in the night but this is more than made up by the view from the window. The food is excellent and is prepared by a gourmet chef. It is about 5mins walk to the shops and from where you pick up the coaches for the day trips. The only thing I didn't like was I thought the lounge area was quite dark and made reading difficult.

Room Tip: If you want a good view, rooms at the front of the hotel are the best but there are no balconies and...
