“Exactly what we were looking for”

Agree with everything everyone has said but as well as Klaus and Veronika I would also like to specially mention Sarah who was great, friendly and very helpful (and an avid Tripadvisor reader!) location of hotel is great, away from noise although its next to a railway line you can't hear the trains! First time I've ever walked to e lift via the railway platform and there were even people skiing along it to go back to hotel! Afternoon tea was a great treat. Food wasn't fine dining but just what you want after a days skiing. Particularly enjoyed the farmer's buffet night and the dessert buffet night. Klaus and Veronika are very hands on and amazes me the hours they worked every day. Even when we wanted to eat in town one evening, Klaus recommended a great pizzeria with wood-fired oven. If I had one constructive comment it would be that the bedrooms could do with updating, even just a fresh coat of paint. But it's such good value for money. And would recommend you book your ski hire when you're there as the hotel has vouchers which give you 10% discount. You can also get your ski pass directly from the hotel and they add it onto your hotel bill but its the same price as the tour operator and lift station.

Take the bus over to Jochberg, about half an hour away and you catch the bus from bus station about 5 mins walk from hotel. Great skiing and seemed quieter. You can then either get the cable car back over to Kitzbuhel and ski back or get the bus back again.

Other tip is to get one of the lockers in the intersport store at bottom of lift. 40 euros for double locker or they have single and quadruple. Great to leave the skis in at the end of the day. You can leave your boots as well but there was no way my boots were missing out on the hotel ski room. Toasty boots every morning!

We went with Crystal and were really impressed with the pre-holiday service. Good flight times. Only problem was we had to wait on the coach for 1.5 hours for the other flights to arrive. You can pre-book your own taxi transfer through Kitzbuhel tourist office for 32 euros each one way. We also pre-booked ski hire and lift pass through crystal but the order hadn't got through from central office to resort so our vouchers weren't available until the next morning which meant we wasted couple of hours on the first day queuing which was annoying as we had arrived on Sat afternoon so could have got it all then. So advice is just to wait until you arrive and get it all through hotel. We thought it was cheaper with crystal but after exchange rate and credit charge transaction it worked out exactly the same.

All in all would highly recommend Kitzbuhel for the people, the skiing which is great for intermediates, the bars and restaurants on the piste, the hotel Edelweiss and last but definitely not least the snow - in over 20 years of skiing have never had so much snow!

Am sure I've missed something so please feel free to email me.

Went for a weeks holiday on the 26th January for hubby's BIG birthday treat. Went with family and friends (9 in all) our party consisted of skiers and non skiers and 5 year old nephew. The resort and hotel catered for us all and we all had a brilliant time. Klaus and Veronika chatted to us every evening, asking us about our day and made us feel so welcome and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. Rooms were lovely and clean and comfortable with BBC on the TV. FOod was excellent with lots of choice, you could even take food from the breakfast buffet for lunch if you wanted a change from the excellent eateries available in the town. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in the bar in the evening, so much so we didn't venture out to town once. We have already started to plan a return trip in the Summer. Thank you Klaus and Veronika and all your lovely staff for making our holiday so special

I have never felt the need to rate a hotel before but this one was unbelievable.

As others have said, our party of 4 booked the hotel based on tripadvisor reviews and just like everyone else says it is utterly brilliant.

The hosts and waiters/waitresses went beyond their duties to make you feel welcome.

Nice toasty feet in the mornings with their top of the range boot warmers

Security was very good. Code locks for the entrances.

5 mins walk to the ski lifts, and you can see back to the gate of the hotel.

The hotel had an really good atmosphere and many guests would swap stories. BEST HOLIDAY EVER.

Would not hesitate to visit the Edelweiss if I am ever in the area.

We stayed at Edelweiss from 12th-19th jan and can't rate it highly enough.
The hotel bar/reception area is lovely and cosy, i've never spent so much time in a hotel bar whilst on holiday!
Klaus, Veronica and their staff simply couldn't do anything more to help and are genuinely interested in making sure their guests have a fantastic stay.
The hotel is very clean and the room was very comfortable. The TV was great too with bbc1 and world.
The hotel location is fantastic with ski in if you come down blue run 20 and head straight over the field.
This hotel should be included in the moneysupermarket weekly email as u simply wont find better value for money.
I wouldn't hesitate in staying there again.
The only thing I would say is watch the price of spirits at the hotel bar, a vodka and coke is 11 euros.
Already looking forward to going back.
Thank you for a wonderful stay

Stayed in the Edelweiss Hotel in Jan 2013. We can thoroughly endorse all the previous good reviews; this Hotel and its Staff live up to their excellent reputation. We loved: the food, the location for skiing, the friendliness of the owners and staff, the piping hot showers. A full, cooked breakfast was prepared by 6.30am on leaving day; nice change from packed breakfasts. Après skiers beware: the bar closes at 10.30pm, but downtown bars are a short walk away. The early bar closure won't stop us from coming back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing towards the mountain for the beautiful views. The staff will give you vouche...

We picked this hotel purely based on the rating on Trip Advisor rather than the star rating or the tour operator description. I normally stay in 5 star hotels so I was dubious about how it would be. I need not have worried!

There are loads of great things about the hotel;

1. The welcome - the owners are absolutely lovely and clearly care greatly that their guests are happy and enjoy their holidays

2. The location - this must be one of the only hotels you can ski into which is great as the walk to the ski lift takes 5-10 mins

3. The boot room - one of the best I have seen - heated rails all day long

4. Veggie food choice - thank you - a course each night which is rare in Austria!

5. Rooms - we took a superior room which was lovely with two balconies. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with fresh towels waiting every day on a heated towel rail

6. Bathrooms - we didn't have a bath (I'm not sure if any rooms have them) but the shower was very warm and powerful.

The only thing I would say is that we got a bit of a shock at the end of the week when we saw the cost of drinks from the bar. The beer is reasonable but the spirits are very expensive. You do get a 2.40 refund per person per day, but I would advise checking the drinks menu first.

Other than that, thank you for a wonderful week.

Room Tip: Go for the superior rooms if possible

Just stayed at the Edelweiss again and cant praise Klaus and Veronica and their staff enough. When we arrived we were greetd like old friends and made to feel so welcome. We picked this week to celebrate my birthday and from the moment we arrived they made every moment exceptional. Our room was first class with a double balcony great views and very warm and clean. The food here is plentiful and varied and a credit to the hotel, from breakfast to a packed lunch if you want it, afternoon tea and then dinner you just cant ask for more. For the wine lovers, Klaus has the most wonderful wines on offer. Klaus and Veronica are very attentive and at all times and make sure you are happy. There are very few hotels where the owners take time to talk to you about you day and show genuine interest in what you have done and help you to enhance your experience. The atmosphere in the hotel is wonderful and nothing is too much trouble for the staff, thanks to Sarah, Tibor and Miroslav who looked after us. If you find yourself lucky enough to get booked into this gem in Kitbuhel top class service awaits you. Klaus and Veronica have created the perfect holiday hotel.
