Agree with everything everyone has said but as well as Klaus and Veronika I would also like to specially mention Sarah who was great, friendly and very helpful (and an avid Tripadvisor reader!) location of hotel is great, away from noise although its next to a railway line you can't hear the trains! First time I've ever walked to e lift via the railway platform and there were even people skiing along it to go back to hotel! Afternoon tea was a great treat. Food wasn't fine dining but just what you want after a days skiing. Particularly enjoyed the farmer's buffet night and the dessert buffet night. Klaus and Veronika are very hands on and amazes me the hours they worked every day. Even when we wanted to eat in town one evening, Klaus recommended a great pizzeria with wood-fired oven. If I had one constructive comment it would be that the bedrooms could do with updating, even just a fresh coat of paint. But it's such good value for money. And would recommend you book your ski hire when you're there as the hotel has vouchers which give you 10% discount. You can also get your ski pass directly from the hotel and they add it onto your hotel bill but its the same price as the tour operator and lift station.
Take the bus over to Jochberg, about half an hour away and you catch the bus from bus station about 5 mins walk from hotel. Great skiing and seemed quieter. You can then either get the cable car back over to Kitzbuhel and ski back or get the bus back again.
Other tip is to get one of the lockers in the intersport store at bottom of lift. 40 euros for double locker or they have single and quadruple. Great to leave the skis in at the end of the day. You can leave your boots as well but there was no way my boots were missing out on the hotel ski room. Toasty boots every morning!
We went with Crystal and were really impressed with the pre-holiday service. Good flight times. Only problem was we had to wait on the coach for 1.5 hours for the other flights to arrive. You can pre-book your own taxi transfer through Kitzbuhel tourist office for 32 euros each one way. We also pre-booked ski hire and lift pass through crystal but the order hadn't got through from central office to resort so our vouchers weren't available until the next morning which meant we wasted couple of hours on the first day queuing which was annoying as we had arrived on Sat afternoon so could have got it all then. So advice is just to wait until you arrive and get it all through hotel. We thought it was cheaper with crystal but after exchange rate and credit charge transaction it worked out exactly the same.
All in all would highly recommend Kitzbuhel for the people, the skiing which is great for intermediates, the bars and restaurants on the piste, the hotel Edelweiss and last but definitely not least the snow - in over 20 years of skiing have never had so much snow!
Am sure I've missed something so please feel free to email me.
