It was a very busy Saturday evening in Kitzbühel due to some event, and most restaurants did not have any available tables. Finally we managed to get a small high table (with bar stools, so probably not a table intended for dinner but rather for a visit to the bar) at “il gusto”. It was obvious that all the staff were extremely busy, but they still managed to be nice when communicating with the guests. We were given the food menu but not the wine menu, and when we ordered the food and asked what wines they had the waitress suggested Grüner Veltliner without fetching the wine menu (too busy, I suppose). We ordered a tomato and mozzarella salad to share as a starter, one main course each, salmon with spinach and risotto frutti di mare, and a side dish to share, grilled vegetables. The four dishes were delivered in a strange order, and we had to ask for a basket of bread as we realized that they had forgotten to give us one (we saw that the other tables got one). First came the salmon and the grilled vegetables, and ten minutes later came the risotto and the tomato-mozzarella salad. The waitress apologized more than once. All the food was so delicious, although we did not get it in the order we had expected.
As we liked the food so much, we went back for dinner a few days later. The waitress recognized us and provided both the food menu and the wine menu, and apologized again for the extremely busy Saturday evening. This time we ordered garlic bread for starter, which was large like an entire pizza, and very tasty. We also got a couple of pieces of focaccia with olives, which were very tasty. For main course we ordered veal in mushroom sauce and grilled vegetables as a side dish. This was also very good.
