Owner description: A new way to climb a mountain: not far from Innsbruck’s famed “Goldenes Dachl”, an amorphous ice formation glitters in the sun. Upon closer inspection, however, it reveals itself as the lower terminus of the Hungerburgbahn hybrid funicular railway, whose striking appearance sprung from the imagination of star architect Zaha Hadid.

amazingly quiet, modern and high tech.Being and engineer, I can only marvel at the design logistics! Only the Europeans could build something so amazing!! It goes through some incredible forests and steep terrain.

“Amazing Views”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

Definitely worth doing whatever the weather. My wife and I went up twice - once with very limited visibility and once with clear blue skies.
You feel like you're on top of the world and we can both recommend the hot chocolate, potato and bacon soup, and wonderful cheesecake in the café at Hafelekar.
It is just under 30 Euros to do the full ascent/descent from town, but if you consider buying the Innsbruck Card then it can more than pay for itself.

“a must”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

frequent, on time, fast journey. this takes you to Hungerburg where you can stop off for your first views over Innsbruck, have a drink or bite to eat - or both ! then get the Cable car up to Seegrube and even further up to Halefekar. Buy the Innsbruck Card - it's well worth it

“Spectacular”
Reviewed February 13, 2014 via mobile

What a great view. Amazing. A little expensive to go all the way to the top (about €30 for both trains) but it's worth it. Visited Cloud 9 bar at the top and drank mulled wine. Yum.

“Wow - What a view”
Reviewed February 4, 2014

Just go for the experience if nothing else. Going right to the top, yes, change over two-hence three cables, is worth it. The kids will love the snow and the views are spectacular. It is a day trip in itself.
