“The brown bear is so close!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012 via mobile

Its a small zoo but I loved it. The enclosures were generous in size, the animals were active, the bear enclosure is thrilling. Open top so you look face to face with the bear maybe a meter half away. Safe unless he wants to do a running jump but I'm pretty sure even then your safe.

“nice childrens zoo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012

It is a nicely designed zoo with children in mind, where the animals are easily visible/accessible. The enclosures generally seem animal friendly and the animals fairly happy (as happy as an animal can be in a zoo). The only down side for me was that we were visiting after a long morning in the mountains/walking...so we envisaged just "popping in" to make the most of our Innsbruck card (entrance is free with this card). But the way the path is constructed is that you have to walk 90% of the zoo to get out - no short cuts. This was a bit too much. But if you are visiting for the day it is a perfect size even for little kids to walk.

“Zoo!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

For the price it was well worth an afternoon visiting the indigenous alphine zoo for animals that are both common and becoming extinct in these and similar areas of the alpes

“Unusual animals”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

Coming from Australia, there were several animals in the Aplenzoo which we had not seen in real life, so that was a great experience. We probably didn't have enough time the see all of the zoo, but it was great to see Ibex, huge Vultures, Lynx and other mountain wildlife.

“Beautiful and very well kept little zoo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2012

Beautiful little zoo with very well kept animals, each one of them having a really roomy space.
Between you and the baer's areal is on some meters just a large window, so you feel like you are really next to him, what was a very special experience for us.
Then we also saw a young wolf taking a bath in his pond (with a waterfall! isn't that luxurious..) only 1 meter away from us, what was also very cute to see.
Definitely worth going there, but not for sick people, cause you have to climb up most of the time.
